Your hosts Maurice and Sonja welcome you to the Tutukaka Coast Motor Lodge. Situated on the waterfront, only a 3 minute drive from Tutukaka. Our 15 self-contained Units include studio, 1 and 2-bedroom units. Cooked or continental Breakfast available, BBQ and Guest Laundry. 2 minute walk to Cafe, Superette, Takeaways,Restaurant and Bar. Across the road we have safe swimming and a boat ramp. Beautiful beach walks from the Lodge or, for the more active, golf, tennis, bowls, petanque and a water sports hire facility for kayaks, dinghies etc. Dive the Poor Knights or the Tui and Waikato wrecks, we will be happy to arrange your charters for you. |

| Getting There |
From South of Whangarei: Continue on the Main Road North on the bypass route missing the Whangarei City Centre. Turn right just before the Kensington Sports Centre on top of rise. (There is a sign to Tutukaka). Follow the sign posts for the Tutukaka Coast, straight through the first sets of traffic lights, at the second set of lights turn left. After 20km you come to Ngunguru, drive past Shops and Cafe' over the one lane Bridge and 50 m on your left is the Motel From North of Whangarei: Turn left at the traffic lights at Kamo a suburb just a few kms north of Whangarei and follow the sign-posts. An alternative scenic route from the north is to turn off at Hikurangi and proceed via Sandy Bay- Tutukaka- Ngunguru. A very worthwhile and rewarding daylight drive. |

- Visit the Whangarei Falls and AH Reed Memorial Kauri Park. Take a 1 hour bush walk or just view the sights. - Visit Zion Wildlife Gardens (As seen on TV - The Lion Man). - Drive around the Tutukaka Coast and experience the amazing coastline. Walk down to idyllic Whale Bay or stroll along the golden sands of Matapouri Beach before having a meal at one of the many cafes and restaurants available at the Tutukaka Marina and Ngunguru - Go scuba diving at the Poor Knights Islands - one of the world's top 10 scuba dive locations. Or take a day cruise on "The Perfect Day" to the Poor Knights Islands, including lunch, snorkelling and kayaking. Departures from Tutukaka Marina. - Do an art trail including the Craft Quarry, Reyburn House and the Town Basin Galleries - Educational - Marsden Point Oil Refinery Visitor Centre and the Whangarei Museum, Heritage Park & Kiwi House. - Dolphin spotting and island hopping boat trip in The Bay of Islands - Explore the West Coast - Matakohe Kauri Museum, Quad Biking at Baylys Beach, Kai Iwi Lakes and Waipoua Forest. - A long one - sand boarding in the Hokianga Harbour, visit New Zealand's oldest and tallest Kauri - Tane Mahuta - twilight picnic then kiwi spotting on a guided night tour of Trounson National Park. - Golf at one of Whangarei's superb golf courses or our local 9 hole golf course at Ngunguru Sports Complex - Visit Whangarei's Town Basin for lunch and a spot of shopping in the selection of craft and local souvenir shops in an idyllic marina setting. |
