| Getting There |
Flying QantasLink offers flights from Darwin, Perth & Broome. Airnorth flys from Darwin or Broome to Kununurra at least once a day, more often during the tourist season. Also has direct flights from Perth at least twice a week. Skywest flys direct from Darwin, Perth & Broome. Complimentary transfers to and from Kununurra Airport are available on request. Please provide flight details on booking. Driving. Kununurra is located 1040 kms north east of Broome, or 825 kms southwest from Darwin and 3250 kms from Perth. Either way it's a long drive, but definitely worth it. For those taking the drive north from Perth, the coastal route passes through some of Western Australia best attractions including Monkey Mia, Shark Bay, Broome and Cable Beach, before heading into the Kimberley’s. If you have time, the drive to the Kimberley is amazing from any direction. Especially the stretch of road between Katherine and Kununurra is simply spectacular. So is the road from Kununurra to Halls Creek. And of course, for the really adventurous and the four wheel driving enthusiasts, there is the Gibb River Road from Broome to Kununurra. A 660km stretch of unsealed road through the heart of the Kimberley and to some of the most remote and beautiful places on this planet. Greyhound also has services to Kununurra from Broome & Darwin. |

Great photo spot, be crocodile aware. -Hire a boat on Lake Kununurra, or check out the vast array of flora and fauna that lives there. -Take in a movie at The Picture Gardens in Coolibah Drive, open during the dry season. You can drive in or you can walk in – it’s up to you. -Go for a stroll along the Historical Society Walk Trail. You can purchase a guide booklet from the Visitor Centre. -Relax in the shade at Celebrity Tree Park, and have a look for the names of celebrities who have planted trees there. -Drive out to historic Ivanhoe Crossing, the old concrete causeway over the Ord River. Great picnic spot or try your luck fishing for a Barramundi. Be crocodile aware. |
