| Things To Do |
The township of Hawker has great services to cater for tourists, so allow a little time to walk around and perhaps visit Jeff Morgan’s Panorama or Fred Teague’s Museum. The original train to Central Australia, “The Ghan” passed through Hawker years ago. Today the line has been relocated far to the west, and the old “Hawker Railway Station” has been restored to become a first class restaurant and gallery known as the “Old Ghan Restaurant”. Hidden a short distance from the main road are numerous visitor treasures like “Kanyaka” where you may quietly stand in the homestead shadow, and almost hear the hum of long gone human endeavor. A trip to Hawker would not be complete without a visit to Wilpena Pound, a bushwalkers paradise. Beyond Wilpena Pound you will find the picturesque Bunyeroo Valley and the spectacular Brachina Gorge. |
