Great Barrier Lodge is true Waterfront accommodation in Whangaparapara Harbour with all the studios and suites having harbour views. Whangaparapara is a sheltered deep water harbour with a commercial standard wharf located 8 kms from Claris Airport or 28kms from Tryphena ferry terminal. We have a total of 11 rooms. Guests can chose between our 3 studios (double or twin share), 3 suites (from 3 - 5 persons) 2 cottages or 3 backpack rooms. Most rooms are equipped with king beds and suites have additional singles or bunks. All rooms except the backpackers have ensuite bathrooms and kitchenette for self catering. Studios and suites have decks with delightful sea views. The lodge has a fully licensed restaurant and lounge bar area with a log fire to keep you cosy during the winter. Sky TV and large screen available for those must watch sports events. The Lodge provides services to the boaties including fuel, provisions, off licence and dive bottle refills. The licensed restaurant and bar have stunning views of the harbour, and guests and boaties mingle on our deck while partaking in meals and refreshments. Go fishing diving or sightseeing on our 11.6m (38ft) charter vessel or walking on tracks in the bush providing you with opportunity to experience some of the most stunning scenery in NZ. Rent a car to explore the island or play on one of the 2 nine hole golf courses close by. |
