With its spectacular exterior, reminiscent of a Bavarian Castle, The Consulate is unique, quixotic, heritage listed accommodation, complete with tower, right in the heart of the historic city of Fremantle. In keeping with its romantic, mysterious past, The Consulate provides, as one of our guests’ put it “just the right atmosphere for great conversation and storytelling for people from far and wide”. The Consulate offers cosy and comfortable rooms in this guest house with a difference. We offer a friendly welcome to all our guests and early check-in or late check-outs can be negotiated. Ask us about our special longer break rates. Your stay in this stunning turn-of-the-century residence is guaranteed to be a memorable one. The Consulate is in the midst of Notre Dame University, moments from Fremantle’s tourist attractions, including the Roundhouse and the famous Cappuccino strip and the rest of Fremantle's fun night life and culture. Close to Bather’s Beach, Fishing Boat Harbour, The Esplanade, The Markets, a wealth of restaurants, Cruise Ship berths and the Rottnest ferries. We are a short stroll from the free CAT bus and transport links and only a 35 minute train ride from Perth Central Business District and 25 minutes from Subiaco Oval or the Showgrounds. The Consulate is air-conditioned for your comfort and features a spacious lounge and dining room for guests’ enjoyment as well as our book and dvd library. This property provides modern convenience including a spa bath and internet access. A continental breakfast is available daily from our well appointed modern kitchen. For the business executive there is an option, with prior arrangement, to hold your mini convention or business meetings in a relaxed, private atmosphere utilising the Consulate’s facilities. We have 2 undercover car bays 400 metres from the property; subject to availability and prior arrangement. Ironing board, Iron and hairdryer are available as required. Please note - there are stairs to our bedrooms. Some room types do not have private ensuite facilities as advised in room descriptions. |

The Tarantella Suite
The penthouse suite with its personal tower & stained glass windows - a mixture of romance & decadence, a favourite for special occasions & honeymooners. CAR: Gregory’s Street Directory reference – Map 575 B4 This trip will take you approximately 40-50 minutes depending on traffic and road conditions and the time of travel. From the Kwinana freeway, turn into Leach Highway, which becomes High Street, at the end of High Street turn right into Queen Street, Turn left at Elder Street, the third street on the left, which becomes Phillimore Street, Take the fourth street on your left into Mouat for a warm welcome at The Consulate which is on your right. AIR: From/to Perth Airport takes about 50 minutes by taxi it costs around $55 - $60. The Fremantle Airport Shuttle is also available and cost about $35 single or $40 double. Cars are available for hire at the airport – From the Domestic terminal turn left onto Tonkin Hwy, right onto the Leach Highway, which becomes High St,at the end of High Street turn right into Queen Street,turn left at Elder Street, the third street on the left , which becomes Phillimore Street,take the fourth street on your left into Mouat for a warm welcome at The Consulate. From the International airport, turn right on Tonkin Hwy, Left onto the Leach Highway, which becomes High Street, at the end of High Street turn right into Queen Street, turn left at Elder Street, the third street on the left , which becomes Phillimore Street, take the fourth street on your left into Mouat for a warm welcome at The Consulate which is on your right. TRAIN: From / to Fremantle it takes about half and hour and then on foot or by cab or free CAT bus to our door. Turn left, into Phillimore Street, when you exit the train station, continue down Phillimore Street. Take the fourth street on your left into Mouat for a warm welcome at The Consulate which is on your right. The Bus Station is adjacent to the Fremantle Railway Station. Free CAT buses operate through -out Fremantle, The Consulate is a short stroll from Stop 27. CRUISE SHIP:Turn right when you disembark and either walk along the Quay or Peter Hughes Drive. Turn left into Fleet Street (between the E Shed Markets and the Port Authority). Left into Phillimore Street. First right into Mouat Street and the comfort of The Consulate , which is on your right and clearly sign posted. |

| Things To Do |
Experience Fremantle from its heart; wander around the Heritage precinct where The Consulate is located and appreciate the amazing architecture, or take a walking or Notre Dame tour. Walk to all the attractions of Fremantle including the Round House, museums and art galleries, the Markets and Fremantle Prison – the Underground Tour of the prison is a must for the fit! Relax over a coffee in our famous Cappuccino Strip, or for those who prefer a beer, there are three micro breweries in walking distance, including Little Creatures. and the rest of Fremantle's fun night life and culture. Dine al fresco or up market, taste the many cultures of Freo or some of our famous seafood, or take a picnic and swim in the Indian Ocean at Bathers Beach only 300 metres away. Enjoy some retail therapy at the Markets or in the myriad of retail shops Fremantle offers and be amused by the buskers. Appreciate our maritime heritage with a visit to Fishing Boat Harbour, the Maritime or Shipwreck Museums and tour the submarine The Ovens. View the ships in the harbour, admire the boats at the Fremantle Sailing Club or take a ride to Rottnest, the City or the Swan Valley wine region on a ferry, sail on the barquentine The Leeuwin or speed in a jet boat. Go fishing and watch for the dolphins that play in the harbour. Attend a concert or local event; take a tram tour, catch the free CAT bus or hire a scooter from about 100 metres away. Stop-over with us in Fremantle, on your way to or from the Margaret River wine region, or as a break from your busy life. Your options are endless and we are happy to help with local knowledge. |
