We wished we had booked more days here as its the kind of location that rejuvenates the soul, very tranquil. The views to Taupo and the mountains are spectacular and the hosts made a point to make us feel very welcome and comfortable. The rooms are superbly appointed and maintained and the place was very clean. We enjoyed relaxing in the lush gardens and lawns surrounding the huge grounds. This is definitely on the "must return one day" list. Highly recommended. Thank you to hosts Steve & Amanda!!" |

The Taupo area is abundant with leisure activities for all ages and abilities. Try some of the acclaimed walking tracks (including the Tongariro Crossing which is considered by many to be the best one-day hike in New Zealand). There are also numerous Golf courses including Wairakei International (Rated in the Top 100 in the world). There are natural mineral hot pools (DeBretts) and large pools for kids (AC baths). Of course there is plenty of Trout fishing as Lake Taupo is one of the last natural Trout fisheries left in the world. There is also Maori culture, geothermal attractions, white water rafting, sky-diving, jet boating, water skiing, para-sailing, hunting and tramping. Taupo is also blessed with a wide variety of excellent restaurants from high-end to casual and an exciting street scene with numerous bars and cafes. We also have plenty of exciting shops downtown that will make you think you are in a big city. Last but not least Taupo is an all season recreational paradise with legendary skiing and snowboarding only 1.5 hours away. |
