| Getting There |
From Highway A1, the exit is "Firenze Certosa" and you will start to follow direction for "Centro" and "Porta Romana" (Roman Ancient Gate). Always straight on until you get to Porta Romana, a round square with a modern statue in the middle - you turn all around the square because you want to get inside the ancient gate. You will be on Via Romana, that becomes Via Maggio; at the end of Via Maggio there is a streetlight, you have to turn right after the fountain onto Borgo San Jacopo - don't cross the river cause you are on the right side of the river! The Hotel Lungarno is located on the left side and right after it there is a public garage (Garage Lungarno). |

The hotel is ideally situated in the city center near Ponte Vecchio, within easy walking distance to the main museums and attractions such as the Uffizzi , Santa Maria del Fiore cathedral, the Galleria dell'Accademia and Palazzo Pitti. On a far less beaten track, there are hidden gems as the Salvatore Ferragamo shoe museum. For shopping, the high fashion district of via Tornabuoni, via della Vigna Nuova and via Strozzi is nearby, as well as via Calzaiuoli and via Roma with their wide variety of well known chain and department stores. The Oltrarno neighbourhood, on the southern bank of the river, hosts several antique shops and many local craftsman workshops. |
