| Things To Do |
Unlike West Maui, Wailea gives you a considerate amount of peace and quiet with its small master-planned community and secluded alcoves. An alternate option to your serenity, Wailea and nearby Kihei offers a variety of options to spice up your solitude. West Maui is still only about a half hour drive away. In addition, there are several options for adventure in the surrounding island attractions, such as various ocean activities, the Maui Ocean Center, Haleakala National Park, Lahaina Town, ‘Iao State Park, and Hana. Maui Ocean Center Maui Ocean Center provides an up close and personal look at Hawaii’s diverse marine life without having to put your diving gear on! Perfect for a romantic honeymoon, family outing, or solo excursion, the best thing about the OceanCenter besides its interactive eel exhibit and shark tanks, is by far the jellyfish room. This mesmerizing exhibit features comfy seats in a totally dark room, lit only by the glowing cylinder tanks that house these mysterious creatures. Pair this with the soft music being played, and you’re in for a truly compelling experience. Haleakala National Park Haleakala National Park stretches from the rocky Kipahulu coastline up through rainforest and shrubland to the summit of the volcano. Much of the upper slopes, including the rainforest, are designated wilderness and protected by law. You have the option of hiking to the volcano or driving up, but keep your windows down because the area is enveloped with the healing scent of eucalyptus. Whichever way you plan to go, know that the view from the top is one you cannot afford to miss. If you can bear to get up before sunrise, prepare to experience a top-of-the-world breathtaking view above the clouds and be forever transformed. Remember to bring your camera. ‘IaoState Park The deep valley of ‘Iao features the noteworthy ‘Iao needle, a natural rock pinnacle that overlooks the ‘Iao stream and is surrounded by the walls of the Pu’u Kukui crater. The valley is a tranquil and lush area offering easy hikes, exotic plants, and natural pools. Hana Hana is an isolated piece of heaven located on the eastern coast of Maui. It is almost entirely undeveloped, leaving it a pristine, sacred place of ecological refuge and a natural paradise. Hana itself is amazing, but the road trip out is equally impressive. The journey includes picturesque waterfalls, views of the rugged Hana shoreline, and some of the best beaches, including white sands and black sands and red cinder cliffs. Beach/Ocean Activities Be sure to ask our concierge about the various ocean activities you can explore while staying in Wailea. Tours and information can be given on whale watching, beaches, waterfalls, sailing, snorkeling, diving, kayaking, scuba diving, and surfing. Also Nearby: Golf Shopping Nightlife/Entertainment Dining |
