| Getting There |
Car is the best way to get to Port Arthur. A Taxi can be booked from the Airport. Buses comes down nearly every day from Hobart. Easy to find us: For the CLASSIC COTTAGE , Kevin's , Old Oakwood , Driving from Hobart, Hobart Airport, and Sorell. You take the Port Arthur Highway towards Port Arthur always. We strongly recommend you do all the shopping you need to do for your stay in Port Arthur , in Sorell. Arriving at the small village of Taranna, at the Devils Conservation Park driving towards Port Arthur, you look at your watch, 3 minutes to 4 minutes then on the left you will see in a bend a Restaurant Lemo’s Seafood’s. Wait until you see the Restaurant, don’t turn anywhere else before. 100 metres after the restaurant,then a Blue sign on the left …" Classic Cottages s/c Accommodation" .That’s us … slow down … take the first left towards the ocean. A sign Hire with Denis (that’s us too) … A CLASSIC COTTAGE is the first one, just up the small hill with a sign Reverse parking; we live in the second Cottage and where you need to check in ,… KEVIN'S on the other side of the road from our house and has a sign on the drive,and is White painted with a blue roof border. OLD OAKWOOD further down the road ( 300 meters about ) at number 78, sign there too after going up the little hill , drive in the property to park on the loop... Please follow the Office 50m sign to check and don’t disturb people at the Classic Cottage if your Cottage is Kevin’s or Old Oakwood. If you have a GPS enter Fortescue Bay Road. Wait until you pass the Restaurant to take the real, original Fortescue Bay road. Same address for KEVIN COTTAGE OR OLD OAKWOOD to get your keys in case they aren't on the door. Please print directions .Put your email address where the Special request box is and we will send you more detailled instructions. For SEACALM , you are in Nubeena ....just contact us we will send you directions ( as per above ). if you don't have a gps or just google Seacalm map or after the small town of Nubeena , drive towards Port Arthur pass the Council office ( on the left ) , the RSL ( left ) then take 1st right just after the Little Tourism information booth , drive carefully on that road until you see Caravans ...and a Blue sign to the right with in this order ... " Boat Ramp , Apex Pt , No through out road " that s your way ... go to 148 second drive please ....leave key under Pot plant when going. Need anything please ring Denis . |

What to do in Port Arthur and the Tasman Peninsula when you stay with us? We can send you a full list when you book if you include your email in the Special Request box , but here’s an idea of what to expect so you don’t end up saying “We didn’t book for long enough”. - Pick your own Oysters and Mussels 2 minutes away from the Port Arthur Cottages only. - Visit the Tasmanian Devils.... - Enjoy one of our pristine beaches.... - Catch a fish next to our Cottages....Veg out !!!!! - The Port Arthur Historic Site (including a boat trip, the Isle of the Dead, Point Puer and evening ghost tour) will occupy at least 2 days – we recommend you book the ghost tour, the latest in the evening. - See Tasmania Smart Visit Cards available to save you money, on all your attractions, contact Denis. - The Blowhole Area, Devil’s Kitchen, Patterson’s Arch, Tasman Arch, Waterfall Bay Cliffs, Tessellated Pavement, Dog Line, Remarkable Cave, Palmers Lookout also take a full day to enjoy. - An Eco Cruise trip to see whales, seals, albatros and dolphins is a must.
