Enjoy a taste of the Mediterranean in the heart of the Wairarapa – less than five minutes drive from Martinborough Square - and just an hour from Wellington. Stay a while, relax and take it easy at Akrotiri Estate Olive Grove & Accommodation. Soak up the magical views across the park-like garden and olive grove, to the vineyards and mountains beyond and enjoy the peace and quiet of this country adult retreat. The 18-acre olive grove estate – which offers bed & breakfast accommodation - is ideally located, with the area’s internationally acclaimed vineyards (including Alana Estate, also famous for its music concerts), and an excellent golf course all within a short walking distance. The tranquil grounds are planted with a wide variety of fruit and nut trees, including: apples, figs, feijoas, peaches, pomegranates and lemons and pine nuts, pistachios, almonds, hazelnuts, macademias and walnuts. Guests are invited to walk around the grounds and take in the scenery. Unlike other B&Bs in Martinborough, we take only your booking. This means that you do not have to share facilities with others - and will be guaranteed privacy and exclusivity when you stay in Akrotiri Estate's guest wing. The guest wing is essentially a private apartment without cooking facilities. It is luxuriously appointed, private and peaceful - just perfect for a romantic weekend away for two - yet large enough for a longer stay away for two couples. With its own separate entrance you are made to feel at home and can come and go at your leisure. Please note that we are unable to accommodate more than 4 people in 2 queen-bedded rooms. This is an adult retreat and is therefore unsuitable for children. The guest wing sleeps a maximum of 4 adults in 2 queen bedrooms - the Spa Pool room and the Lavender Room. Each has its own private bathroom. The Spa Pool room bathroom is en-suite and the Lavender room has its own large 'wet-room' style bathroom. Each bedroom has stunning views of the gardens, mountains, olive grove or vineyards and has a high quality and extremely comfortable queen size bed with 400-thread count Egyptian cotton linen. The Spa Pool room has a romantic wrought iron frame Laura Ashley bed. Cotton bathrobes, large bath towels, complimentary toiletries, fresh flowers, bedside lamps, electric blankets and heaters are all provided. There is great 'in and out flow' with access to the guest patio area and the large luxury Hot Springs spa pool (seats 6 people) available through patio doors from each of the bedrooms and from the lounge. Outdoor patio furniture is also available for your use. The top of the range Hot Springs six-person luxury spa pool has massage seats that will relax even the most weary of travellers! The elegant guest lounge has WIFI (which is free of charge), a small library with a wide selection of books and magazines and an open-plan living and dining area with luxurious Natuzzi Italian leather furniture, dining table and chairs and an antique rug. You will keep warm with our reverse-cycle heat pump (which also provides air-conditioning in Summer). There is a DVD and CD/radio player, with a selection of DVDs and CDs. There is a TV in the guest lounge connected to the DVD player - there is no terrestrial TV or Sky/satellite. A toaster, bar fridge (with ice box), kettle, selection of glasses, crockery and cutlery are provided. As accommodation is on a Bed & Breakfast basis there is NO kitchen and NO cooking facilities. You will find tea and coffee making facilities in the lounge with water, milk, freshly ground coffee and a wide selection of teas all available. If you have chosen to include Continental Breakfast, you will find provisions on arrival. This usually consists of yoghurt, seasonal fruit, a selection of breakfast cereals, bread, butter/vegetable spread, milk, fruit juice, water, a selection of jams and honey. Akrotiri Estate is a STRICTLY NO SMOKING property. |

| Getting There |
From Wellington, take SH2 through the Hutt Valley. Continue on and drive over the winding Rimataka Range Hill Road. From there you will head over the mountains and down the other side. The first small town you come to is called Featherston. Once at Featherston look for the garage and the right hand turning to Martinborough. This junction is signposted to Martinborough. Featherston to Martinborough is a scenic drive through rural countryside - it takes around 15 minutes. As you approach Martinborough Wine Village continue through the town until you get to Martinborough Square. You will see Est restaurant on your left and the Martinborough Hotel on your right. Go straight across into Oxford Street (the Pukemanu Tavern should be on your right hand side and Doctor’s surgery on your left). Continue along this street passing Martinborough Estate and the entrance to the Golf and Squash Club (on your right hand side). The Golf Course should be on your right and vineyards on your left. This road (the old Martinborough/Masterton Road), has now become Hinakura Road and you will need to follow it until you have reached the end of the Golf Course. Akrotiri Estate is the 3rd property on the right hand side after the Golf Course. The physical address is 114, Hinakura Road, Martinborough. |
