Designer Cottage was a sailors' retreat in the 70s and is located in peaceful surroundings just off Colombo Street near the shops and opposite Sydenham Park. The walk to the city centre from the cottage will give you the chance to admire many listed heritage buildings on Colombo Street. We offer a variety of rooms, which are all tastefully decorated, including share facilities, private room with ensuite and a self-contained cottage. Your friendly host, Chet, has an honours degree in Landscape Architecture and is passionate about traditional buildings and his landscaping ideas. Designer Cottage is one of his finest collections of the charms of yesterday and all guests are welcome to view the ‘Designer Village’ and hear his stories about the cottage. |

Designer Holiday Home
Designer Retreat self contained holiday home has been restored to comfortable living house. It has 3 tastefully decorated bedrooms(2 queen double),kitchen,living room with log burner, huge bathroom (with shower) also a private courtyard with carpark. Rates are for 4 people. Extra adults $30.00. Extra children $20.00. The room caters for a maximum of 6 adults, and a maximum of 2 children but cannot exceed 6 guests in total. Available bedding configurations:

This 1900's cosy working man's cottage has been restored to its original charm. We are off Colombo street approximately 1.8 km South of Cathedral Square. At the Sydenham Mc Donald’s opposite Sydenham Park turn left into Hastings Street West, you will soon meet up with a small roundabout the corner house with many big trees and white picket fence is Designer Cottage. By Bus: Bus no 10 will takes you from the Christchurch International Airport to the closest bus stop to Designer Cottage (Stop right after Mc Donald’s opposite Sydenham Park). 1-2 minutes walk down Hastings Street West, you will soon see a small roundabout. Designer Cottage is the corner house with many big trees and white picket fence. |
