LA MAISON DES CANUTS (at 4.5 Km of the Carrés Pégase) Academy living of knowledge, which makes the wealth and the quality of the silk trade of the city Lyon. During a lead visit you can discover: the invention of Jacquard, illustrated by a demonstration of weaving on arm professions, the history of the silk and the cycle of the silkworm, the life of the silk workers in the XIX° century, and the reality of the textile industry in Rhône-Alpes today. The shop proposes a vast choice of products such as scarves, slings, ties, coupons of tissues, weaved images... MUSEE DES TISSUS (at 1Km) 30 rooms present 2000 years of history of the tissue, Egyptian tissues in the contemporary works of the whole world (carpet Persian and Turkish), and profane suits or liturgical ornament, with a panorama of the silk trade of Lyons since the Renaissance in particular. The visit is fascinating thanks to the stage setting of the rooms of this magnificent house, the hotel of Villeroy.
