Samade on the Beach is a Polynesian styled 3 star property situated on Ootu Beach which is located on the south eastern point of Aitutaki. Ootu Beach is prominence in the history of Aitutaki where its forefather 'Ru' landed his canoe from the mythical land of Avaiki. Samade has 12 stand-alone studio type bungalows, fully air-conditioned, with hot water system, tea and coffee making facilities. The bungalows are located about 50 metres from the beach, nestled around a vast colourful garden and coconut palms. Right on the water's edge overlooking the turquoise coloured Aitutaki lagoon sits our sandy floor, coconut thatched roof bar and restaurant opening daily, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. On Tuesdays, the restaurant host's a fabulous Aitutaki style island night buffet and floor show. Samade is 5 minutes drive away from the airport and is within walking distance to nearby restaurants. Just off Ootu Beach, lagoon cruises depart for a day out to the off-shore motus (islets) full of great snorkeling in the famous Aitutaki lagoon, storytelling, singing and feasting on mouth watering meals. What make's Samade extra special is the friendliness of staff who are always willing to help their guests, be it organising tours and activities or just having a chat over a glass of coconut juice. | Things To Do |
Take one of the lagoon cruises that departs from Ootu Beach where Samade is located for a day out full of snorkeling, feasting, island hopping, sun and fun. For your own private lagoon cruise perhaps grab a kayak and paddle for 15 minutes to one of the nearby islets, guaranteed you will have your own private island all to yourself for the day. Around the corner from Samade is the highest peak 'Maunga Pu'. Put on some walking shoes, insect repellent, take water and not forgetting the camera and hike up to the peak to see picturesque Aitutaki through your own eyes. For a more detailed tour of the island book a Safari or Island tour and see historical sites, the market place, taste variety of fruits and coconut drink, visit the local schools and the ladies quilt exhibition and of course souvenir shopping. On Sunday, visit the local churches in the middle of town for beautiful sermons and powerful singing. Experience themes nights full of local entertainment and Polynesian feasting either at Samade or nearby restaurants. This is also the best chance for you to have dancing lessons taught by local dances. In the evenings, get together with the locals and go into the woods or along the beach for land crab hunting. See turtles, sting rays, colourful fish, swim with the dolphins and discover many more of the sea life by going on a scuba diving tour, outside Aitutaki's reef. To stretch out your muscles take a stroll along the beach and collect shells or have a game of golf on Aitutaki's nine hole golf course right next to the airport. To get rid of that last bit of stress, treat yourself to a full body massage right on our white sandy beach under swaying coconut palms gazing out to the million dollar view Aitutaki lagoon. |
