Things To Do Use Zeehan and the Hotel Cecil as a base to explore the wilderness areas of the West Coast.
We are close to the Pieman River, which was discovered in 1816. Many guests take a trip up the river to see the vast stands of Huon Pine and rainforest.
Cruise the famous World Heritage Wilderness of the Gordon River with "World Heritage Cruises".

The more adventurous may wish to take a trip on the Wild Rivers Jet through the rain forest gorges of the King River on high performance jet boats.

Visit Montezuma falls or take a trip on the ABT Railway. There are many more activities that you can undertake. The staff of the Cecil are happy to help you with information and bookings if required.
Zeehan is known as the Silver City and had a population of 10,000 people in its heyday. Dame Nellie Melba sang at the Gaiety Theatre which is still a lovely old building.

Today there are still fine old buildings in the main street, showing a hint of the grandeur of yesteryear.

The West Coast Pioneer Museum is well worth a visit. Leave time to enjoy the tale it tells of life in the early days in a booming mining town.

There were about 40 pubs here in the early days and the Hotel Cecil was one of those early pubs. It is the only one that has continuously operated since it opened its doors in 1900.
