Underground Accommodation in the heart of Coober Pedy. A Warm and Friendly Family Style Business. 1 Oliver St.(Corner of Hutchison St which is the Main St). We are 150m North of the Coober Pedy Post Office & between the BP & Mobil Service Stations.
Choice of 8 Underground Motel Rooms and 2 Above Ground Motel Rooms, 12 Underground Budget Rooms and 6 Dorm Rooms of various capacity.
Radeka Downunder was originally an Opal Mine in the 1960s and was converted into an Underground Accommodation premises in the Mid 80s. The Sandstone rock keeps the temperature all year round between 22c - 28c avoiding the extreme heat outside in Summer and the cold nights in Winter.
We are within 200m of Restaurants, Supermarkets, Underground Church, Westpac Bank with ATM, Opal Shops and Museums, Hotel and we have a Fully Equipped Communal Kitchen.

Getting There	Located in the centre of Coober Pedy between the BP and Mobil service stations, the building with the white arches. Courtesy Pick Up & Drop Off at Local Bus Terminal. Fees Apply for Local Airport Transfers.
Parking	Off-street Parking with 24 Hour Camera Surveillance. Suitable for Cars, Motor Bikes, Push Bikes, Cars with Trailers/Boats/Caravans, 21 Seat Coasters. A Front Car Park is also available for larger vehicles.
Things To Do	The Radeka Downunder "Desert Breakaways Tour" is a Daily 4 Hour informative look at Coober Pedy and the nearby Breakaways Scenic Reserve. It departs Radekas Daily at 1pm, 365 Days a Year, and returns at 5pm. Our guides are long term Opal Miners, they explain and show all aspects of our industry and why most of us choose to live underground. (Warm in Winter, Cool in Summer). The Tour visits an Underground Church, Historic Town Sites, our treasured and famous 18 Hole Grassless Golf Course with "Oiled Greens", Crocodile Harry's Underground Home, Mine & Museum, the Opal Fields showing you the Claims, Machinery and the 30m Deep 1m Wide Shafts, plus Open Cuts. About 20 - 30 minutes is taken for "Noodling" (Fossicking) for your own Opal on the Fields. You keep what you find. The Tour then heads to the Breakaways Scenic Reserve, where 10 Feature Movies have been made since 1984 including Mad Max 3 Beyond Thunderdome, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Pitch Black, Mars: The Red Planet & Kangaroo Jack. We head back to Coober Pedy along The Dog Fence (the longest fence in the world), the Moon Plain Desert and the Oodnadatta Road. The Tour can be booked on arrival at Radeka Downunder.
