At the Sapphire City Motor Inn we offer a range of accommodation choices and we have rooms that can accommodate up to six people. All our rooms are ground floor and we have two ‘easy access’ rooms. Ample onsite parking is available with partial undercover parking available for most rooms. We can cater for vans, trailers, small trucks and buses on-site. There is side street parking for larger vehicles adjacent to the motel. We offer the option of a full or continental breakfast, as well as dinners to your room seven days per week. Alternatively for dinner we have a charge back arrangement with local restaurants (our local Thai restaurant enjoys a reputation as being one of the best in regional NSW) and some will even deliver to your door! There is even a park less than 100 metres away with picnic facilities so you can rest, relax, and let the kids run free or kick a ball. Situated on Glen Innes Rd (for guests using GPS devices use 3 Greaves St) we are an easy stroll to the Inverell shopping centre, local churches, and most sporting facilities. We also provide easy access to Maclean Village, making us an ideal place to stay when visiting family or friends at Maclean. Sapphire City Motor Inn is also ideally located to provide access to local attractions, such as; fossicking, Inverell Motor Museum, Heritage Village, wineries, Copeton Waters (one of Australia’s largest water storage facilities, offering a full range of water sports and bush walking) to name just a few. Inverell is also a great base for day trips to the New England highlands, the cotton fields of Narrabri, or the spa pools at Moree. | Getting There |
We are located at the junction of Glen Innes Rd and Greaves St. Glen Innes Rd is also known as Gwydir Highway and Otho St. We are about 700 metres from the Post Office, and we are immediately opposite the East Inverell Bowling Club. Inverell is serviced by Aeropelican Airline (bookings can be made via Qantas as well), with Inverell airport located approximately 15 kilometres from town. If time permits we can provide a pick up service, please call to check availability. CountryLink also provides a regular bus service to Inverell, with travellers dropped at the Transit Centre about 1 kilometre from the motel. Again please check availability of our pick up service. |
| Parking |
Ample off-street car parking is available at the front of your suite. Most parking bays provide all but undercover parking. We have off-street parking facilities for trailers, boats, vans, small trucks, buses and such. There is ample side street parking for larger vehicles adjacent to the motel. All parking is free of charge. |
| Things To Do |
Inverell provides a variety of activities for visitors. Many activities (eg fossicking) are best enjoyed over a few days so relax, extend your stay a few days, and enjoy your time with us. Here is a summary of some local attractions: - Green Valley Farm – a local fun park providing entertainment for the young and young at heart. For visitors looking for a more relaxed experience browse through the museum and oddities exhibition, enjoy a Devonshire tea, or just wander the grounds. Inverell Transport Museum – occupying over 4,000 square metres the Transport Museum provides exhibits from the early days or motoring (and earlier), through to many recent examples of motoring greats. Inverell Heritage Village – see Inverell as it was in the early 1800’s through to early last century, visit the eucalypt grove; planted in memory of locals that lost their lives in conflict. Lake Inverell Reserve – an idyllic reserve that is home to a number of bird species and aquatic animals. Lucky wanderers often get to see that rarest of mammals, the platypus. Copeton Waters State Park – Copeton is a fisherman’s and water sports paradise being a large area of enclosed and somewhat sheltered water (about three times Sydney Harbour) see’s the dam as an all year round attraction. The park covers an area of 900 hectares and also offers bushwalking and waterslides. Inverell Art Gallery – located in Evans St the Art Gallery contains a collection of original and creative pieces. The Gallery now also includes the Historic School of Arts. Want to try your hand at fossicking? – there are a number of areas locally that you can fossick to your hearts content and maybe come away a little bit richer. Gems between 6 to 10 carats are a regular find, with the largest known amateur find being 34 carats. There is much more to do and see in the region. Please call us or the Tourism Centre for details. We have a range of leaflets for other local attractions that we can make available when you arrive. Immediately opposite the motel is the East Inverell Bowling Club who can arrange meeting facilities for smaller groups and social events - we can arrange this on your behalf. |
