If you are looking for quality budget accommodation with more style and the latest of trends,Astray Motel & Backpackers Rotorua is the place to stay! Located on Pukuatua Street.We are ideally situated for those wanting city centre accommodation at very competitive rates. With the bus stop and town at our front door, a 5 minute walk to the Information Centre and lakefront, we are very accessible to all tourist and business amenities. We have a range of budget accommodation types available offering the most flexible room options. There are 2 -4 person bunk rooms,single(capsual size) & double private rooms with shared facilities,or you can upgrade, for a small amount more, to a unit with ensuite, tea/coffee facilties,TV ,bar fridge & Microwave! Our common area kitchen features 2 ovens,2 fridges,hobs,microwave & a big screen Plasma TV with Digital SKY. Guests can check emails on one of our wireless internet computers,or take advantage of our modern kitchen facilities. On site parking is available to guests at no cost. Our complex sleeps 60 in total and we consider ourselves a quiet hostel/accommodation that suits all travellers . We look foward to hosting your stay! |

Please note there is a bus stop right at our front door step! If arriving via Rotorua Airport, catch the Green Bay bus shuttle direct to Astray for approx. $2.00 Driving from the North or West: Proceed on SH 5 into town and turn left on Lake Road. Proceed to the 1st light and turn right onto Ranolf St. Proceed to the 2nd round about and turn left onto Pukuatua St. Located about 2 blocks on the right at 1202 Pukuatua. From the South: Proceed on SH 5 into town and turn right onto Pukuatua St.Proceed straight on through two round abouts, then approx. 2 blocks on the right at 1202. From the East: Proceed on SH 30 into town and turn right onto Fenton Street. Proceed 3 blocks and turn left onto Pukuatua St. Located 1 1/2 blocks on the left at 1202. |

The Buried Village: Nobody would have believed in June 10 1886, that the serenity enjoyed by the inhabitants of Te Wairoa would be shattered by an outpouring of the Earth’s fury. Few would have dreamed as the eighth wonder of the world - the fantastic Pink and White Terraces - sparkled in the moonlight, events deep in the ground were menacingly unfolding. For the more adventurous types take a visit to the Agrodome where you can engage in sheep shows and farm tours, experience NZ's fastest jet sprint boat, swing on the Rotorua Swoop, body fly with the free fall extreme, do an adrenaline pumping 43 metre bungy jump, race through speed on the Shweeb, roll down a hill in a unique Zorb! Also visit Rotorua's unique geo thermal springs at the Polynesian Spa, feast on a hangi at one of the many local sites, take a gondola ride and luge, visit the Rainbow Springs Nature Park for your very own special kiwi encounter....the options are endless! |
