Roseneath is a large sandstone home in very spacious, sunfilled and secluded gardens (2000m²). It is situated on the sunny eastern shore 5 minutes by car from the CBD and Salamanca (3.5 kms) and 10 minutes from the airport. From Roseneath there are spectacular views over the Derwent River, the Tasman Bridge, to Mount Wellington and to Hobart nestled at the foot of Mount Wellington. Accommodation comprises 4 in-house rooms and 1 self-contained studio/unit. In-house guests have the following facilities: log fire in winter in the guest lounge and a sunny conservatory. In the gardens for the use by all guests there is a solar heated (in summer), in-ground, saltwater pool; a BBQ, beatiful gardens, and private, offstreet parking. Full cooked breakfasts, or, full breakfast provisions for the studio/unit; complimentary port, chocolates and homebaked biscuits or cakes are included in the tarif. A continental breakfast can be provided for those who have early morning flights or who need a very early start to the day. Your hosts, Susan and Alain Pastre, aim to provide their guests with traditional hospitality and warmth. They would like their guests to relax and enjoy their stay in Hobart and to regard Roseneath as their 'home away from home'. Alain is a fully trained French chef who has worked in some of the best French restaurants and who would be very happy to prepare dinner for guests by pre-arrangement (at least 72 hours inadvance). In addition they are more than willing to help with local information on tours, activities and attractions. |

We do not have 24 hr or even a permanent reception and as guests like to arrive at Roseneath between 8 am - 11 pm, check-in is by pre-arrangement. Please email or ring concerning your preferred check-in time. We will get back to you if necessary. |

| Getting There |
From Hobart (5 mins): go over the Tasman Bridge keeping in the left hand lane. Take the exit for the B32 (direction Lindisfarne). At the first set of traffic lights (approx 1 km) go right into Ronnie Street, then first left into Kaoota Road. Continue up Kaoota Road to the brow of the hill. Roseneath is on your right behind double white gates and a sandstone wall. Open the gates and bring your car inside. From the airport (10 mins): On leaving the airport take the direction for Hobart. Once the Tasman Bridge comes into view go to the right hand lane and take the turnoff for the B32 (direction Lindisfarne). At the first set of traffic lights (approx 1 km) turn right into Ronnie Street and then first left into Kaoota Road. Continue up Kaoota Road to the brow of the hill. Roseneath is on your right behind double white wrought iron gates and a sandstone wall. Open up the gate and bring your car inside. From the north and west: Take the direction for Hobart. Go over the Bowen Bridge and go onto the B32 (direction Lindisfarne). After about 15 minutes, right after Bus Stop 7 turn left into Ronnie Street, then first left into Kaoota Road. Continue up Kaoota Road to the brow of the hill. Roseneath is on your right behind double white gates and a sandstone wall. Open up the gates and bring your car inside. |

| Things To Do |
An ideal base for visiting southern Tasmania. 5 minutes by car from the CBD, Salamanca, including the Salamanca Market on Saturday mornings; the river ferries for a cruise on the Derwent, a trip to Cadbury's Chocolate Factory or down the Channel to Peppermint Bay; and Battery Point. Richmond, a beautiful Georgian Village, in the centre of the Coal Valley vineyard region is about 15 minutes away; Port Arthur and the spectacular Tasman Peninsular is only 1 hour away. Huonville and the gently rolling Huon Valley is about 30 minutes away, while the Tahune Air Walk above the trees is 90 minutes. For a really spectacular view of Hobart and its surroundings a visit to Mount Wellington's pinnacle is a must and takes only about 30 minutes. Australia's oldest brewery - the Cascade Brewery - is in the mountain's foothills and tours are also possible. |
