Getting Here - By Air We recommend that you fly into Athens’ new Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport (Code ATH), which is an approximate 45-minute drive away from the hotel. When leaving the airport, please use the taxi queue next to Door 3 of the Arrivals Level. Our concierge desk will be delighted to arrange a limousine or taxi transfer from the airport at the following prices: Taxi Service Day Service (7:00AM - 11:00PM): €50 Night Service (11:00PM - 7:00AM): €65 Limousine Service Day Service (7:00AM - 11:00PM): €100 Night Service (11:00PM - 7:00AM): €135 For VIP Service, which includes pickup from inside the airport, there is a supplemental charge of €25. For guests who wish to take the train, Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport is connected to the centre of Athens via an excellent 24-hour public transportation system (Metro). The Metro Line 3 train runs between the airport and Athens every 30 minutes—on the hour and half hour. Passengers should disembark the metro at the Syndagma Station and follow the exit signs for the Hotel Grande Bretagne. The hotel is located at the corner of the street, directly across from Metro station. Travel time on the Metro Line 3 train is approximately 36 minutes. Fare per person: €6 one-way Finally, a public bus route connects the airport with the greater Athens area via the Route ?95 Syntagma - Athens Airport Express. The ticket price is €3.20 for a one-way trip from the Airport to the centre of Athens. You may purchase tickets from the bus driver, in the airport Metro station or at any public transportation ticket outlets. Please Note: As of July 2008, the Metro Line 3 service will be interrupted for six months due to construction. During this period, guests may take the public bus service from Ethniki Amyna station. Getting Here - By Waterway Athens’ main Port of Pireaus serves as the starting and ending point for the main ship routes to the islands. Located 12km from the hotel, Piraeus is an approximate 30-minute drive from the hotel. Please be advised that in the summer months, traffic may be particularly heavy on Fridays, leading to possible travel delays. Taxis are easily found just outside the port. The Psiri—This quarter comes alive when the sun sets—perfect for night owls in search of superb live performances of every kind of music imaginable. Temple of Zeus--Just 700 meters south of Syntagma Square, the temple's foundations date back to the tyrant Pisistratus in 515 BC. Its graceful columns influenced the development of Corinthian style. Ancient Agora--The most famous agora in Greece, Ancient Agora once had private housing, until it was reorganized by Peisistratus in the 6th century BC into the center of Athenian government. Lycabettus Hill--Approximately 300 meters high, this favourite spot among locals and visitors alike boasts superb views and a sense of tranquility amidst the sprawling Athenian landscape. Intrepid travellers may ascend the hill on foot. The funicular is an easier alternative.
