Nestled under Mt Karioi, in native bush with breathtaking views across the Tasman Sea at Whale Bay, Waoku Lodge offers four self contained, luxury lodges.

Ideal for couples, although each unit can accommodate up to four people in two double or twin bedrooms with open-plan living, dining and kitchen areas complemented by extensive external decking for outdoor living. Ahi and Aotearoa overlook the ocean, whilst Matangi and Moana have stunning views into native bush, with ocean views from the decks.

A full menu is available and is served in-room, for those who wish to self-cater, there is a fully equipped kitchen.

Each lodge is named and themed after the four elements earth, wind, fire and water and includes two double rooms, an open plan kitchen, dining area and lounge. All luxuriously furnished with impressive decking surrounds each lodge and provides outdoor living areas for guests. Each unit also contains a flat screen television, DVD player and a quality sound system for guests to enjoy. Fresh fruit, flowers, wine upon arrival and breakfast are typical of the attention to detail that defines the full Waoku experience.

Waoku Lodge is located 5 minutes from famous surf beaches and 10 minutes from cafes, restaurants and shops.

Getting There An hour’s tranquil drive from Hamilton through stunning landscapes, via Raglan town and finally, the quiet, meandering road with magnificent views over both Manu and Whale Bays delivers you to WAOKU LODGE.

WAOKU LODGE is located at Whaanga Road, Whale Bay, eight kilometers (five miles) from Raglan town centre and a few minute’s walk from Whale Bay itself. Manu Bay is a further ten minutes walk along Wainui Road.
Auckland airport is an hour and three-quarters drive and Hamilton city centre can be reached in under an hour by car.

From Auckland:
o Head south on the Southern Motorway, State Highway 1 (100 kilometers approx)
o Stay on SH1 until junction with SH39 at Ngaruawahia
o Turn right at BP service station onto SH39, drive 17 kilometers
o Turn right at the T intersection at Whatawhata onto SH23, for 30 kilometers
o At Raglan town centre, turn left into Wainui road
o Follow Wainui Road for 8 kilometers to Whale Bay
o At the mini-roundabout, take the first exit into Whaanga Road
o WAOKU LODGE is about 500 meters on the left

From Hamilton:
o Head west on SH23 for approximately 40 kilometers
o At Raglan town centre, turn left into Wainui road
o Follow Wainui Road for 8 kilometers to Whale Bay
o At the mini-roundabout, take the first exit into Whaanga Road
o WAOKU LODGE is about 500 meters on the left.
Parking There is off street, secure parking available for guests.
Things To Do A qualified masseuse, beauty therapist and spa therapist is available on-site offering a range of massage techniques, beauty therapies and spa treatments.

Whilst Whale Bay and Manu Bay offer world class surfing venues for experienced and professional competition surfers alike, Raglan Surf School provides training for beginners and those wishing to improve their technique at the beach in Raglan. Waoku Lodge are able to offer private lessons from our in-house instructor. Raglan town provides opportunities for wind and kite surfing, kayaking, glider trips, golf, and many other activities requiring a degree of exertion.
There are many gentler activities available in and around Raglan too; harbour boat trips, golf, horse-riding, bush and shore walks, explore the Wainui Reserve or simply enjoy Raglans cafes, art galleries and funky shops.

For those wanting to venture further afield, New Zealand’s top tourist destination at Waitomo Caves is a gentle hour and a half hour drive, whilst Wineries and Vineyards can be seen at Cambridge (an hour and a quarter). Hamilton gardens are well worth a visit too.

Many visitors to Waoku Lodge prefer just to laze around the decking watching the sea, whilst listening to the native birdlife.
