Wombat Valley Cabins is set in natural bushland in the Gippsland High Country. Our 1,2,3 bedroom cabins sleep from 2 to 10 people per cabin, they are placed singly or in pairs over 60 acres of quiet natural bushland. The local town of Briagolong is a scenic 15 minute drive from the cabins where the local pub and cafe offers excellent meals and supplies are avialable from the general store or larger shopping areas are short drive to Maffra, Stratford and Sale. Newry boasts a golf course and also the Newry Motorcross track which hosts some major events during the year. At Wombat Valley Cabins you stay in early settler style cabins. Each cabin has a large open fireplace built from local stone, which will provide ample warmth on the coldest nights. The kitchen is well equipped with all your crockery, cutlery and cooking needs, large gas fridge, woodfire stoves will cook the most delicious roast, gas cooktops for a quick cuppa and outdoor BBQs for that nice steak. Instant gas hot water showers and indoor toilets. Gas lighting in each room adds to the rustic atmosphere. Bring along your favourite book to enjoy on the verandahs and board games to enjoy in the evenings. We are pet friendly accommodating dogs, cats and horses. Our location gives you easy access to 4wd tracks, horseriding close by, fishing in the river or the ocean and bushwalking. Wombat Valley Cabins is an easy 3 hour drive east of melbourne and backs onto the Lower Dargo State forest, which is the backdrop to where the man from snowy river where filmed. Although Wombat Cabins is surrounded by natural bushland it is easily reached by conventional car. |

Wombat Cabin overlooks Mt Wellington and the high country,ideal for larger groups and families, sleeps 10 comfortably in three seperate rooms, large open fireplaces, fully equipped kitchen,bring your own linen, pillow and towel, pets allowed in cabins. Kookaburra cabin overlooks a fern gully, fauna and flora at your door, Kookaburra Cabin suits a large group or family, sleeps 10 comfortably in two seperate rooms, bring your own linen, towels and pillow. These cabins are located in pairs, suitable for friends or couples, overlooking the mountains and gullys at Wombat Valley, fully equipped kitchen, large fireplaces, BYo linen, towels, pillows, pets allowed in the cabins. | Getting There |
From Melbourne take city link to eastern suburbs, then onto the Monash, follow the A1 freeway to Sale, then onto Stratford, go straight through roundabout at Stratford onto Briagolong. Drive through Briagolong about 2klms to crossroads turn left at Valencia Cr Rd follow Wombat Valley Cabins sign to Marathon rd approx 700mtrs next turn right into Marathon rd follow to Link Rd about 10.5klms, turn right into Link Rd and follow signs to Cabins about 3.5klms. Stop at office and toot your horn. Highly recommended to follow these directions and not GPS. GPS will send you through a back route that takes alot longer. |

| Things To Do |
Sale farmers markets every month, plus other local farmers markets on during the month, from the cabins you have access to many 4wd tracks, horseriding in the high country near by, fishing in the creeks, lake or beach, bait should be brought with you. Blue pools is located nearby a cool clear stream flows through a magnificent series of swimming holes which are ideal for snorkelling or swimming also with bbq facilities and walking tracks your dogs are welcome. There is a variety of walking tracks through local bushland that will lead you to excellent views of Mt Wellington, Mt Hawitt and the Pinnacles, given the right time of year Wombat Valley is home to a lovely variety of ferns, flowers and native orchids. We are close to the Newry Golf course and also the Newry Motorcross track which hold many events during the year. For the more energetic mountain bike riding with varying terrains await you. Or you can just sit back and relax on the front verandah with your feet up or in the colder months warm your toes by the open fire. |
