The Hotel Colomba is a 3 star hotel located on the second floor of a 17th Century building in the heart of Florence. The Hotel is easily accessible from the central railway station (Santa Maria Novella); by public transport, walking, taxi, or private car. Recently renovated, the hotel Colomba offers 15 rooms, with private bathrooms, satellite tv, mini bar, air conditioning, safety deposit box, phone, hair-dryers, buffet breakfast, as well as an Internet corner. Communication is not a problem as Spanish, French and English are spoken... If you are looking for a stay in the centre of Florence in a peaceful and friendly atmosphere, a few steps far from the Dome, the David and the San Lorenzo market, our hotel is suitable for your needs. |

| Getting There |
The hotel is located between the Duomo and Piazza San Marco, and it may be reached by car following the directions for 'Centro' from the freeway exits. From the airport by taxi (5 kms). Arriving at the Santa Maria Novella train station you may catch buses 7, 10, 31, 32 get off in Piazza San Marco and walk back a little bit. It is also possible to walk from the train station, in this case get to Duomo and turn left into Via Martelli, Via Cavour is a continuation of Via Martelli. The hotel is on the left hand side number 21blue. (N.B. In Florence the street numbers can be blue or red.) |
| Parking |
Although the hotel is accessible by car, parking is not possible. We recommend either the Parterre (at Piazza della Libertà) a short walk from the hotel at 18 Euro a day, or a garage closer to the hotel with pick up and delivery service to and from the hotel. The rates here go from 20 to 24 Euro a day. The rate depends on the type of car. |
| Things To Do |
Florence being the cradle of the Renaissance, it offers its visitors a myriad of Museums and Galleries, amongst these the Gallery of the Academy (David), the Uffizi Gallery, The Bargello, The Boboli Gardens, Palazzo Pitti, Ponte Vecchio, The Duomo, Santa Croce, Santa Maria Novella etc. Florence has a special music festival, from the end of April to the end of June (Maggio Musicale Fiorentino), The Medieval Soccer games in June, the Explosion of the Cart on Easter Sunday. Fashion fairs in January and June. For those who are not keen Museum visitors, shopping is wonderful, reaching the Chianti area and other towns is easy.
