Located in Victoria's beautiful high country Buttercup Cottage provides a gorgeous location for a relaxing stay. As you approach along the driveway flanked by Merlot grape vines on one side and native trees on the other you'll be pleasantly surprised when the cottage is revealed from behind the vines perched next to our ornamental lake. This beautifully-appointed stone cottage provides absolute privacy without the pressures or noise of the city. Relax in the corner spa, curl up in front of the wood fire in winter or laze around on the wide verandahs at other times of the year enjoying the scenery and stunning sunsets. The whoosh of the ducks landing on the water in the evening will break the quiet that is characteristic of this property. The two cottage bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms, one with spa bath and one shower bathroom suitable for people with disabilities. The well appointed kitchen, including dishwasher, means you can hibernate away and cater for yourselves if you wish. Satellite television, video recorder, DVD player and CD stereo system are all provided for your convenience. Dial up internet point now available. Wireless access for your laptop at reception. The cottage has a ramped entry for easy access and other features to help make a holiday easier for people with mobility difficulties. The private apartment is also a surprise addition to the property providing guests with cosy accommodation including corner spa, wood fire, air conditioning, spacious deck on which to spend your afternoons or cook and eat a barbecue meal. You have exclusive use of the apartment which offers two bedrooms and well appointed kitchen including dishwasher and laundry. Satellite television, DVD player and video recorder with selection of tapes is included as is a CD stereo system. Dial up internet point now available. Wireless access for your laptop at reception. Also at reception you will find an extensive video and DVD library, which all our guests are welcome to use. Nearby is horse riding, the delightful Delatite River for fishing, an hotel for an excellent country counter meal, and access to Mts Buller and Stirling, both well known for their winter snow skiing and off season, walking, bike riding, wild flowers and stunning views of the Great Divide. Clear Hills on Mt Stirling was the home of the last remaining film set from the Man From Snowy River Movies, Craig's Hut. After being burnt down in the January '07 bushfires extensive work has been carried out to make sure the hut is re-built for the Australia Day weekend in January '08. We can organise four wheel drive tours for you between November and May. Buttercup is an Aussie Host Gold Business. Guests please contact us with your arrival time. | Getting There |
From the eastern and southern suburbs of Melbourne take the Maroondah Highway to Coldstream, the Melba Highway to Yea and then follow the signs to Mansfield. From the northern suburbs take the Hume Freeway to the Woodstock cross road. Turn right and continue as far as the Yan Yean roundabout. Turn left to Whittlesea and follow the signs to Yea and on to Mansfield. From the western suburbs take the Western Ring Road to the Hume Freeway and follow the directions above as for the northern suburbs access. By car we are 15 minutes to the east of Mansfield and easy to locate. Our satellite navigation position in metric is South 37.08608 and North 146.24497. (Unfortunately the only public transport is by V-Line bus from Melbourne to Mansfield.) Once in Mansfield take the Mt Buller Rd out of town for 15 kms. At Buttercup Rd turn left for 3 kms. We are on the left hand side of Buttercup Rd. You'll see our sign on the nature strip. (Buttercup Rd is before Merrijig so if you enter the township you have gone too far.) Once in our driveway it splits into three. Continue straight ahead towards the main house and reception. Stop next to the sign that says "Checking In?" Proceed to Reception. |
