Coochin Lodge is a renovated Queenslander located one hour north of Brisbane, 20 minutes east of Beerwah and 20 minutes south of Caloundra. Coochin Lodge has three large bedrooms with queen size beds and ensuites. There are tea/coffee facilites, TV and DVD in every bedroom. Communal lounge, dining areas are warmed by a fireplace in winter and wide verandahs for guests to laze on in summer and enjoy the sea breezes and bird life. Totally screened from mozzies. Our own vegie patch supplies much of our produce and our very happy chickens provide our eggs. We have our own bees for honey and we make our own pure soap. The area is alive with history. The Undanbi aboriginal people of our shores covered themselves with red ochre which is still found on the beach. Flinders explored the Passage to see if it was a river. Timber cutters, from Campbellville on the banks of Coochin Creek, bringing cedar from Maleny were serviced by paddle steamers from Moreton Bay and dugong hunters lurked along the sea grass beds. The Joondabarrie of Bribie were reknown for their fish net weaving. The Passage once swarmed with dugong and rafts of mullet. To get to Coochin Lodge you pass through pine forests and National Park, an orange orchard and strawberry farm. |
