| Getting There |
From Wellington to Wharekauhau Address: Western Lake Road RD 3 Featherston Time: Allow 2 hours Directions: Leave Wellington, follow State Highway 2 through the Hutt Valley, over Rimutaka Hill Road to Featherston. Do not drive through Featherston, but turn RIGHT into WESTERN LAKE ROAD. Signpost will also say Ocean Beach. Please note - Featherston is the last petrol stop! 40km - follow along Western Lake Road. NB: the last 2 km is gravel. Stay on the road until you can see panoramic views of the bay. You will travel down a steep grade and over a bridge - you are nearly there! Just over the bridge there is a large wooden sign on the right hand side – Wharekauhau. Just past that you will see a signpost - turn RIGHT and proceed up the driveway. Remember to Keep Left! Please Note: These directions are for the route most commonly travelled. We hope they work for you! |
