Gayana Eco Resort rests serenely at the edges of a lush tropical Jungle on a coral reef island just off the coast of Borneo. 44 over water villas are architecturally designed to enhance the soothing sounds of the surf below while capturing the enduring vistas of Mt. Kinabalu on the distant horizon At its heart, the resort is about protecting and re-generating our precious Marine Ecology, and the only such property on the planet to feature its own, on-site Marine Ecology Research Centre passionately propagating endangered Giant Clams and restoring natural coral reefs; where guests of all ages actively participate in restoring vibrant life back to once damaged ocean floors. The Solace Spa offers an extensive range of native Borneo facials, massage and body treatments in spacious spa suites. Environmentally friendly spa products are featured throughout Malaysia’s finest Chinese Seafood restaurant, Alu Alu features spectacular overwater seating, an encyclopaedic menu of specialized cuisine and the very freshest seafood derived from our own organic fish farm. Western Fusion is presented at Macac, Poolside Restaurant, with its towering, wood fired Pizza Oven. The Latitude Bar hosts weekly Managers Cocktail reception with traditional music. Nowhere in South East Asia except for Gayana Eco Resort will you find three sensitive marine ecosystems; Mangroves,Seagrass Beds and Coral Reefs. A Marine Research Center (MERC) runs the conservation and preservation program giving mother nature a helping hand of which the giant clams propogation is one of its main activities. Seven out of the eight species in the world of giant clams are found in this research center, four of which are near extinction. MERC pride itself to do research on the propogation of these clams. MERC is a non-profit center that provides a platform for marine ecology studies, research, education as well as practical hands on masures that look towards restoring the marine environment in activities like coral re-planting and creation of reef gardens. Come experience diving at its finest, exploring the crystal clear waters of our secluded island paradise which is both rich and varied. The coral reefs are extremely complex structures, designed by mother nature over centuries from limestone skeletons of millions of tiny polyps. The result is a mystifying swirl of hard and soft corals and all manner of aquatic life including (but certainly not limited to) clown fish, vibrantly colored parrot fish or flamboyant lion fish. Whether you are an experience diver or just a novice snorkeler, the abundance of marine life promises to astound you as nature's daily spectacles takes place before your very eyes. At our on site PADI Certified Dive Centre, courses are available at all levels. Many a submerged wrecks makes fascinating diving. Sabah's first forest reserve,this island preserves one of the few remaining areas of undisturbed coastal dipterocarps forest. Primitive cycads grow in small hideaways in the bosom of the island, untouched for millions of years while our hallmark hornbills can be usually found snacking atop a fig tree and nothing sets your heart a flutter more than the sight of it in flight. What is amazing about Gayana are the presence of many species of birds and butterflies. The jaw dropping natural landscape supports a wide variety of flora and fauna. As you take a refreshing mangrove cruise in a kayak through the picturesque river, it looks like a network of river snaking through lime green mangrove tree set against the lush tropical forest of a darker shade. As our resort is located on an island, just 15 minutes from the vibrant city of Kota Kinablau, guests travel via deluxe high speed ferrys. Round trip Island transfers to and from Jesselton Point Wharf are included in your room rate. |

Guest has a choice of requesting for limousine service upon making a booking, or catch a cab (RM30) from airport to ferry terminal (Jesselton point). Approach the Gayana Resort counter #10 whereby the resort staff will arrange boat transfer to the resort by our resort speed boat |
