Opened in late summer 2007, Jerónimos 8, is Lisbon´s first Design Hotel. Housed in a traditional Portuguese building from the 1940s, the Jeronimós 8 thrives on the synergy of modern design and historical association. Floor-to-ceiling windows on the building’s ground floor allow passers-by full view of the red walls, clean-lined minimalism and wengé-cube welcome desk of the lobby, a daring modern contrast to the elegant, old stone façade. Inside, corridors carpeted in stripes of red, cream and brown lead to the 61 rooms and four suites, each individually designed, each boasting profuse natural light, clean white walls, gently-coloured finishings and lavish marble bathrooms with frosted glass panels. Large windows afford stunning views of the Square of the Empire, Tropical Garden Museum, Jeronimós Monastery and Tower of Belém. All rooms include first class amenities, and some feature private Zen-inspired terraces with green bamboos set in serene contrast to white lounge chairs and wood flooring. Out back, a similarly designed sundeck is available for communal use, and inside, the hip, red-and-white themed. Bussaco Wine Bar serves rare Portuguese wines and traditional Pastel de Belém cream tarts. |

| Getting There |
By car: From the Airport take the exit towards "Praça do Aeroporto / Rotunda do Relógio". At the roundabout, take the 1st exit and continue along the exit towards "Belém / Algés" where you should turn right to catch the "C.R.I.L." road. Once on the "C.R.I.L." road, continue along the exit towards "Belém". Then turn on the 4th exit (before the 3rd traffic light). At the end of that street turn right and at the roundabout take the 2nd exit. You are now on "Rua dos Jerónimos" and Jerónimos 8 is at the end of the street (+/- 600 metres) on the left side. |
