BIRDWOOD HOUSE is located in the North Shore suburb of Hillcrest, 10-15 minutes from Auckland CBD and 40-45 minutes from Auckland International Airport. The house is surrounded by native bush with mature trees on one side and an Italian style courtyard in progress on the other. We are located between the beach suburb of Takapuna, trendy Northcote Point, and the Birkenhead Shopping Centre with its many restaurants and shops. A regular bus service is close by. Our newly restored villa is a gabled colonial-style farmhouse, embracing the very best of old and new. Fast Internet and e-Mail facilities. It is essential to contact us directly if you require a check-in time after 10 pm. BEDROOMS We have three elegant bedrooms. All bedrooms have best quality beds with cotton linen, wool duvets, underlays and pillows. Tea and coffee facilities. Television and robes provided. Heaters and fans. Quality toiletries and soft fluffy towels. 1. Kereru (Wood Pigeon) Room - Queen bed with a luxurious tiled en-suite with under floor heating. Fuschia Red and Toile decor. Morning and afternoon sun. Bush views. All day sun. 2. Tui (Parson Bird) Room - Best quality Queen bed with a large bathroom containing a glass shower and roll-top bath and under floor heating. This bedroom/bathroom can be used as a private en-suite OR can share the bathroom with the Fantail Room for two singles or two couples travelling together. Turquoise, Black and Grey décor. Morning sun. Distant harbour view. 3. Piwakawaka (Fantail) Room - Double bed with adjacent private toilet/powder room, and private bathroom with shower and spa bath downstairs. Bathrobes provided. Ice-Blue, Gold and Cream decor. Morning and early afternoon sun. We offer a tranquil setting. Relax on our lovely verandas and watch the bird life - tuis, native wood pigeons, fantails and many others. BREAKFAST Enjoy a superb NZ gourmet breakfast served in our Dining Room, or if you choose, on the veranda or out in the courtyard. Barbie's delicious omelettes are a specialty, not to mention her scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, and many other special breakfast dishes. DINNER Three course set menu meals with or without wine are available with 24 hours notice. LOCATION 10 minutes to Auckland CBD over the bridge, or to Takapuna, North Shore City. Easy access to Motorway Restaurants and Cafés 5 minutes away Ample off-street parking Airport shuttle (NZ$25-30 pp) or Taxi (NZ$70-80) to our door. We can arrange personalised pickup from the International or Domestic terminals by non-stop shuttle to the North Shore with drop off at our house if you give us sufficient notice. ($60 for 2 people) Low cost economy rental cars can be delivered to our door. GUEST SITTING ROOM You are welcome to use our Guest Sitting Room where you will find music, books, magazines, card and board games. Please partake in a complimentary glass of port wine. Fresh milk for bedroom tea and coffee facilities can be found in the fridge. You may also make yourself a cup of tea or coffee here. OTHER ATTRACTIONS 5 mins. to Golf course and bus service; 10 mins. to Auckland CBD, two different shopping centres, beaches, bush walks with kauri trees, and sports stadium; 20 mins. to harbour cruises, vineyard tours, and artifical ski slope. Take an Airport shuttle (NZ$30-40 pp) or a Taxi (NZ$70-80) to our door. We can arrange personalised pickup from the International or Domestic terminals by non-stop shuttle to the North Shore with drop off at our house if you give us sufficient notice. ($60 for 2 people) Low cost economy rental cars can be delivered to our door. If travelling by Car, FROM AUCKLAND INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, take Highway 20, exit left at Queenstown Rd and follow directions into Auckland City. Join the Motorway North at the Gillies Avenue On-Ramp. Take the NORTHERN MOTORWAY and cross the Harbour Bridge. Take the Onewa Road exit (421). Keep left and travel to the top of Onewa Road, taking the right lane and turning right into Birkenhead Ave which runs into Glenfield Road. Moore St is the first street on the right after the lights at Pupuke Road and 12A is 150m down the hill on the left side. Turn down the driveway and park in front of the house. Take the Airport Bus to the City Terminal (Sky City) then bus 954 or 955 from Stop M2 in Victoria St West opp. Sky City Tower. Get out at first stop past Pupuke Rd (traffic lights). Moore St. is 1st on Right after that. 12A is 150m down hill on left. |
