Ascotel, part of the Inter-hotel hotel chain is a modern 3 star hotel of 83 rooms (double, triples and quadruple bedrooms) and welcomes leisure or business individuals as well as groups. It offers you a quiet stay within the Cité Scientifique in Villeneuve d'Ascq, among the buildings of université des sciences and technology of Lille. It is near the main road and motorway networks, though, and offers good links to Lille city-centre by car or by underground. Our restaurant Le Mélantois, sitting over 250, offers its delicately prepared meals for 16.95 Euros (2 course), 22.95 Euros (3 course) or 26,95 Euros (4 course). An à la carte meal is also available. Le Mélantois is closed during the week-end. A buffet breakfast is served in the morning to begin with a good day and the bar proposes you a wide choice of beers, whiskies and other soft or alcoholic beverages. The staff will be dedicated to help you with a good stay whenever needed. |

| Getting There |
Villeneuve d'Ascq is located on the eastern side of Lille. Heading by car from Dunkirk or Calais, go along the southern ring, direction Paris, Gand, Bruxelles, then to Villeneuve d'Ascq. Take exit Nr 2 and go straight at the traffic light, enter the cité Scientifique. Turn left at the roundabout and follow the Avenue Paul Langevin. The hotel is about 400 yards on the lefthand side. Coming from Ghent, take exit Nr 2, follow the Cité Scientifique signs, at the traffic light, turn left, and left again at the roundabout. Coming from Paris, after the airport exit, head right towards Villeneuve d'Ascq, take exit Nr 2 and do as above. Coming from Valenciennes or Brussels by Mons or Tournai, take exit to Roubaix, Tourcoing, Villeneuve d'Ascq, exit at Cité Scientifique, enter the university campus, at the roundabout, turn left and follow the avenue paul Langevin for about 400 yards. By train: if you arrive at Lille-Europe, take the underground underneath the station, take one stop to Lille Flandre train station and change platform from Nr 2 to Nr 1, way to "4 Cantons" and release at Cité Scientifique: the hotel is about 300 yards from there. From Lille Flandre station, get to the underground below the station and take Nr 1 line to "4 Cantons", release at Cité scientifique. |
| Parking |
The car park is situated off street, behind the hotel and is closed by a gate. It is not wired though and not looked upon. The hotel is not responsible in case of theft or damage occured to the vehicle. Take your belongings and valuables with you in the room. a safe is available at the front desk for small items such as money, credit cards, pocket cameras, etc... The car park is free of charge. |
| Things To Do |
Among the main attractions and places worth a visit, you can tour around the Heron lake, which bears it's name because of the many herons breeding there. There is also an auberge to take a drink, the musée de plein air with reproduction of old time housing, and ways of living, the forum des sciences which proposes periodic displays on various scientific topics, the musée de l'école, or how lessons were taught in the old times, the Asnapio Gaulish and prehistoric compound, the Modern Art Museum, currently closed and undergoing massive transformation works. Not to forget the Fine Art Museum of Lille, the Grand-Place, The Old Lille, the musée de la Piscine in Roubaix (the local Musée d'Orsay), and the various rambles and promenades you can do in the French Flanders, Douai, Cambrai, Valenciennes, Arras. |
