HEARTY EXCHANGE - Village Life Experience - Experience untouched Thailand on a customized community-based tour in traditional fishing and farming villages just off the beaten track in Southern Thailand, where were devastated by the Tsunami on 26th of December 2004. Now their resilience and incredible recovery has become a source of inspiration to visitors. This undiscovered part of Thailand will captivate visitors who wish to learn about traditional ways of life and who want to contribute to the conservation of this outstanding natural environment. Khaolak Merlin Resort has created the special tours; “The Village Life Experience One day Tour" and "Saori Experience Half Day Tour" to support those communities. The Kuraburi Village life experience one day tour is original tour by Khaolak Merlin Resort coordinating together with Hallo Phuket Tours, but each activity in the villages is organized by Andaman Discoveries - North Andaman Tsunami Relief (NATR). The villages are in Kuraburi district, Phang-Nga Province and they have many more interesting activities there, so if you are interested in, please visit http://www.andamandiscoveries.com to see more details. The highlights of this tour are to visit two Muslim local villages which produce souvenirs (Tie Die and Herbal soup) for the tourist, and to have the experience of the local life and how to make those souvenirs. An English speaking guide will join the tour from Kuraburi. SAORI weave making is also original tour by Khaolak Merlin Resort. The SAORI is a hand weaving program founded in 1968 by Mrs. Misao Jo in Osaka. SAORI cloth is made by freely weaving wool threads across hundreds of wrap threads that are stretched on a simple wooden loom. The Maya Gotami Fundation led by Venerable Ajahn Mitsuo Gavesako has launched a SAORI Hand Weaving as Occupational Therapy to help the victims of the Tsunami disaster in Southern Thailand. The SAORI project is a long-term recovery effort aimed at creating employment and marking use of arts as an avenue for mental rehabilitation. At the request of the Maya Gotami Foundation, the Japanese Government has agreed to fund the construction of a SAORI-ORI Training Center at Ban Muang sub-district, Takua Pa district, Phang-Nga province. The highlight of the tour is to visit the SAORI-ORI Training Center and make an original SAORI product conducted by the villagers. The cloth is used to make pouches, pen cases, mufflers, dresses and so on. |
