Built in 1885 by English gentry and home to one family for three generations, Ugbrooke oozes history and is the largest privately owned single storey home in NZ. It is unique in Marlborough. Pressed zinc ceilings and extensive timber panelling in 14 foot stud rooms are just some of the features of this exceptionally beautiful yet unpretentious property. Set on 16 acres in a peaceful, elevated position in the middle of the vineyards of the stunning Awatere Valley, Ugbrooke currently offers you a choice of 6 superbly appointed individually themed bedrooms, two with romantic half tester beds and all with modern ensuite and amenities. Having undergone major refurbishments, Ugbrooke also offers guests a 9 hole chip and putt golf course. Wake up to a breathtaking vista over a sweeping lawn to the vineyards and the Cook Strait. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast in the stunning dining room or warm conservatory then take a walk around the vines - or simply relax in the intimate and warm ambience of the home. A full breakfast for two is included in the tariff and a fully licensed dinner is also available with prior arrangement. Guests are asked to contact the hosts prior to arrival should there wish to dine that evening. There is also a cosy bar in one of the historic rooms where guests can enjoy a local wine and choose a home cooked bar meal if preferring to dine less formally. Ugbrooke is located just 25 kms south of Blenheim and close to the coast and walking tracks. Your friendly hosts would be delighted to suggest local tours and pick up from Blenheim airport or railway can be organised for guests staying two nights or more. |

Spacious, elegant room with varying aspects over the homestead. 14 foot high, period ceilings, ornate fireplaces and warm furnishings are just some features. | Getting There |
From Blenheim Airport or Blenheim drive 25 kms south on Highway over the range to the Awatere Valley. Turn left into Redwood Pass Road then 3 kms over the railway line to Ugbrooke Rd. Then turn left into Ugbrooke Road and Ugbrooke is situated 2 kms at end of Ugbrooke Rd. From the South, through Seddon on Highway One to the Awatere Valley, turn right into Redwood Pass Road and follow instructions as above. For guests staying two nights or more pick up from Blenheim airport can be arranged. |

| Things To Do |
Ugbrooke is in the middle of and overlooks extensive vineyards in the Awatere Valley. Wine tasting is available during the week at the Yealands Cellar door and we are merely 25 minutes away from the vineyards of Blenheim and the Wairau Valley. 40 minutes away is the port of Picton and the stunning Marlborough Sounds. Guests can enjoy the 9 hole golf course in Ugbrooke's surrounding paddocks and the heated swimming pool is delightful during the summer months. Just one hour south is the beautiful town of Kaikoura where you can whale watch or go swimming with dolphins, or go inland to the alpine thermal spa village of Hanmer Springs. Ski fields are within 2 hours driving distance. Walk the vines, swim in our pool, or simply bask in the warm hospitality that historic unique Ugbrooke offers. Your hosts would be delighted to advise on wine tours, boat cruises and on a host of other options so that you take every opportunity to explore the region. |
