The Alfred Motor Inn has 19 ground floor units in a quiet tranquil garden setting. All units are 3½ star rated and the property is RACV Environmentally Friendly accreditted. We offer clean, warm, comfortable accommodation at affordable prices. Ideally situated on the western side of Ballarat in the beautiful tree lined Avenue of Honour, the Alfred Motor Inn is close to Lake Wendouree, the Botanic Gardens, P.O.W. memorial, major sporting facilities (Ballarat Golf Club, The Minerdome Basketball Stadium, Lawn Bowls, Squash, Badminton, Cricket) and the hospital precinct. An easy drive to the Ballarat Turf Club, Ballarat Trotting Club & Ballarat Greyhound track. Eateries include The Glasshouse Restaurant located next door to our motel, a Fish & Chip / Corner Deli (approx 50m)and walking distance (approx 700m)to a Milk Bar, Fish & Chips, Thai Takeaway, Liquor store and Hairdresser. 1.5kms to a Supermarket, Chemist and Post Office. | Getting There |
If driving: From Melbourne head West on the Western Highway exit at Wendouree/Alfredton sign. Continue until 3rd set of traffic lights. Turn right, drive under the Avenue of Honour Arch of Victory, we are then 1.5 km on the left hand side. From Adelaide take the first exit off the Western Highway that says “Ballarat via the Avenue of Honour”. We are approximately 17km from this turn off when heading into Ballarat. We are next door to the Belltower Convention Centre. It only takes 1.5 hours by train from Melbourne to Ballarat. The local bus service can be caught from the centre of town and drop you off right in front of our motel. |

Visit Sovereign Hill, 1800’s gold mining town. Stay a night and see Blood on the Southern Cross, the light and sound show that tells the Eureka story. Other attractions include Art Galleries, Lake Wendouree and Botanical Gardens, Wineries, Kryal Castle, The Tangled Maze and Gold Rush Mini Golf. Special Events throughout the year include: The Australian Cycling Championships, Swap Meet, Begonia Festival, Antique Fair, Avalon Air Show, and South-street Competitions. We are well positioned for your stop over on route from Adelaide to Melbourne for AFL games, The Australian Open Tennis, Grand Prix and concerts. |
