Comprising 13 large, comfortable ground-floor rooms. Quiet location, we offer helpful, personal, friendly service. Late arrivals are acceptable. Please phone ahead if arriving after 9pm. Should you require more than 1 type of room please contact us direct - multiple rooms are not listed. By customer demand, all rooms are STRICTLY NON-SMOKING We are licensed with a MAXI-BAR in reception. Beer, wine, spirits etc. are all available. Especially for Glider City Motel corporate guests - SINGLE mid-week rates. Direct dial-up and wireless broadband available to every room. Charge-back facilities are available at most eateries (one serving till 10pm for late-comers) or you may choose to have a meal delivered to your room. Chargeback meals/services payable direct to the hotel - Minimum $30 eftpos/credit card required. 200km from Melbourne - 100km from Albury 2 hours from Melbourne's Tullamarine Airport. SNOW BUNNIES !! 70 minutes to Bright. 80mins to Harrietville - Not long from there to either Mt Hotham (30kms further) or Falls Creek. Mt Buller is closest to Benalla - just 119km, so choose your favourite snowfields. We are a regular stopover for incoming S.A. snow-bunnies! Spacious BBQ gazebo area - ideal for groups, with a huge shade umbrella. Enjoy your breakfast al-fresco in the warmer weather. Our swimming pool enclosure is private, separate and excellent for hot summer days. We have extra secure off-street parking for cars or trailers, and have a large parking area for larger trucks at our roadside. Via Mary St, turn right, then right again to Witt Street to park kerbside. Benalla is in the heart of Ned Kelly country and a gateway to the Victorian snowfields. Benalla is also the gliding centre of Victoria with the Gliding Club of Victoria based at the airfield. Why not book in for a Joy flight? Benalla is well known for its beautiful rose garden reserve and won Tidy Town of the Year in 2005 and 2006. The famous Rose Gardens also incorporate the Sir Edward "Weary" Dunlop Memorial statue. Overlooking Lake Benalla is Benalla's quality art gallery cafe. On the other side of the lake is the Benalla museum. Winton Motor Raceway is close by - approx 9 kms. Regular car-club meetings, Historic vehicle racing etc. are all part of the many events held there. | Getting There |
From Sydney/Albury/Wodonga: Take the first Benalla/Shepparton exit and travel aprox 8km into town along the old Sydney Road. The Glider City is on your right - 200m past the Mitre 10 store - at the cross roads intersection - opposite the road to the airport. From Melbourne: Take the first Benalla Exit - past the Golf Club to a roundabout - turn right into Bridge St/Sydney Rd - continue 2kms over the bridge, thru the traffic lights, past the twinkling trees and the shops. The motel is on the left approximately 700m past the McDonalds/KFC - Safeway roundabout. Train journey from the Melbourne CBD, Southern Cross station, in Spencer St, - 3 times daily - approx 2.25 hour trip. Taxis are available in town or we will arrange to pick you up from the railway station. |

FREE Secure off-street car parking is available right at your ground floor room door. One entrance/exit past reception, ensures vehicles are secure and out of sight from the street. Large truck parking is available on our side street and there is plenty of extra parking for boat or car trailers, or guests who may require two car spaces. Large trucks please use Mary Street, right turn into McLennan St, then right turn into Witt Street. |
