| Things To Do |
-Glow Worm Guided Tours -Picnic Areas -Arts and Crafts -National Parks Tourist Information Centre -Cafes and Restaurants -Springbrook Observatory -Walks Purling Brook Falls Circuit 4km return Allow 2-3 hours. If including the Waringa Pool track, which leads downstream from the base of the falls, add another 2km. Walkers pass through open eucalypt forest before descending into the gorge to view the falls from below. A steady climb through forest brings the walker back to the picnic area. Twin Falls Circuit 4km return Allow 1.5 - 2 hours Commence this walk from Tallanbana picnic area or the Canyon Lookout. Follow the track in an anti-clockwise direction, to take advantage of the interpretive signs that guide the walker through different forest types, and to avoid a steep climb. Pass behind two waterfalls, through rock clefts and among palms and treeferns. Warrie Circuit 17km return Allow 5 - 6 hours. Commence at the Canyon Lookout. The longest and most interesting track on the plateau follows the base of the canyon cliffs to Goomoolahra Falls before descending into the mossy green depths of the rainforest. Several creeks and gullies are encountered along the way and the Aboriginal word Warrie, which means "rushing water", is given credence. The track reaches the Meeting of the Waters where all watercourses draining the canyon meet , then climb up the western side of the gorge. Take a backpack with food and drink, first-aid kit, camera and binoculars for a memorable day. Average fitness is required. -Lookouts Wunburra Lookout Vehicle access Views of Purling Brook Gorge, Mt Cougal and the Little Nerang Dam. Purling Brook Falls Lookout 100m walk Two lookouts provide spectacular views of the Falls. The first is reached by taking the left fork in the track and offers the view depicted on the home page. The second lookout is reached by crossing across the top of the Falls and Cascading waters. It offers a spectacular view looking straight down the cliff to the rock pool below. As well as panoramic views of the gorge. Information Centre 100m walk and boardwalk Canyon Lookout Vehicle access Offers superb views of Twin Falls and Rainbow Falls, the sheer walls of the Canyon and the ocean beyond. This is the starting point for the Twin Falls and Warrie walks. Goomoolahra Lookout 100m walk Best of All Lookout 600m return walk Walk through ancient Antarctic beech forest to a view of northern New South Wales dominated by Mt Warning. The geological picture is quickly apparent here. Often enshrouded by cloud, even when the weather is fine and sunny lower down the plateau, the short walk takes on a magical misty quality all off its own. |
