Qualmark 5 Star Rated Grampian Villa offers friendly, Deluxe ("boutique"), great value-for-money bed and breakfast accommodation, historic ambience and a mouthwatering array of breakfast and evening meals just 5 minute's walk from Nelson's city centre. Located in the mature tree-lined streets of Nelson's dress circle on the lower slopes of The Grampians, Grampian Villa is a pleasant 5 minute walk from Nelson's City Centre. A total of 4 guest suites are available. Your hosts Paul and Gwen Searle offer a mouth-watering gourmet full breakfast selection - homemade mueslis, yoghurts and cookies and a mouth-watering cooked breakfast. Grampian Villa has four Deluxe ensuited rooms - 3 spacious SuperKings and 1 Queen with clawfoot bath. The two large upper floor suites have verandah access and with views of Nelson City and the sea and are especially popular with honeymooners and the romantically inclined. Both ground floor Garden Suites have French doors opening onto the spacious verandah. Rimu, Matai, Kauri and Totara native timbers are used extensively throughout the house. Built in 1895 one of the Nelson pioneer families, this historic and stately two storey Victorian Villa was purchased soon after by influential and public spirited Nelsonian Frederick G. Gibbs. Besides being a well respected local headmaster and almost single handedly classifying the flora and fauna of Nelson District, Frederick Gibbs was instrumental in establishing The Nelson School of Music, The Nelson Harmonic Society, The Suter Art Gallery, The Nelson Institute, and The Nelson Observatory. SH6 from Picton: At the junction of SH6 and Trafalgar St, turn left into Trafalgar St towards City Centre. Take next left into Weka St, then next left into Collingwood St. Continue on Collingwood to it's intersection with Bronte St. You've arrived. From Nelson Airport: Head out of the airport and follow the signs for Nelson City via Bishopdale and Waimea Rd. Following this route you will be driving over the hill on Waimea Road and down into central Nelson. You will pass Nelson Hospital on your left and Nelson Boys college on your right. Take the second turn right after Nelson Boys College, off Waimea Road and on to Van Diemen Street. Go straight through the first intersection and the road veers around a park. Turn right on to Brougham Street and go straight ahead, take a second turn left onto Collingwood Street. Continue down Collingwood Street, Grampian Villa is a tall white house on your right, on the corner. Shuttle and Taxi's are available from the airport. $NZ12.00pp Shuttle, $NZ20.00 Taxi Turn 1st left into Wainui St, then 1st right into Collingwood St. Continue on along Collingwood St, crossing the Maitai River, then passing through 3 sets of traffic lights. Straight ahead at the roundabout, then Grampian Villa is on your left at the corner of Collingwood St and Bronte St. |
