“We aim to give you the best breakfast on the planet – Planet West Coast!” We are located 20 minutes north of Westport, the main centre of the Buller region, the most northern part of the beautiful wild West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand. Five of New Zealand's national parks are in this region. New in 2007, Charming Creek B&B is architect-designed for maximum sun, sea and relaxation. Above tower the bush-clad cliffs of the high plateau – across the road, the Tasman Sea. Behind is the spectacular Charming Creek Walkway, and all the activities you could want from relaxed to extreme. All suites have massage showers, designer vanities, french doors on to sundecks, the latest pillowtop beds, electric blankets, clock radios and hairdryers. Beautiful flax papers, local art, and stylish bedspreads are a feature of this property. Electric and gas heating. The guest sun lounge has an automated Swiss Espresso machine, fridge/freezer, MP3/CD music system, and satellite TV. wireless internet, phone and laundry services available (extra charge applies - laundry done only for multi-night stays). Our land goes right to the water's edge with a relaxation centre featuring a freshwater hot tub, wood-fired pioneer stove, and a retro caravan. This retreat is metres from the waves, seabirds and dolphins which populate this coast. Book this for an unforgettable experience. Tub must be booked and paid for in advance as it is custom filled and heating takes four hours...not available for one night stays. We have three suites: The Driftwood Suite - a superking (very large bed) which also splits into two twin beds, large ensuite, with sundeck; and the Friends and Family Suite which comprises Friends and Family Suite 1 - a queen bed/ensuite, and sundeck; and Friends and Family Suite 2 - an adjoining queen bedroom which shares the same ensuite. Book Suite 1 for a couple - or both for extended family or two couples/friends travelling together. Continental breakfast is included in your room rate. Dinner is available if booked in advance but if it is peak season and all our local cafes are open we do not provide dinner - offseason or for special packages or occasions we will be happy to do dinner for you. Free bikes with two night stays. Use them to go look at local art and working artists - or cruise along the coastal roads. Unmissable: The Heritage Coal Trail including the Denniston Incline, OutWest Tours high plateau and mine tour in unimogs,Underworld rafting and glowworm caves with NorWest Adventures, the Charming Creek Walkway daywalk, Millerton's high plateau walks; the Punakaiki Pancake Rocks and Blowholes, Cape Foulwind Seal Colony, and the world heritage caves and arches of Karamea and a day on the mighty Heaphy track with the giant nikau palms and the spectacular Scotts Beach. Charming Creek B&B is a great two - three day stay because it is central to this large number of attractions - none more than an hour away - many just minutes. Large room with extra large bed and spacious ensuite. Rates are for two. Max occupancy two adults plus rollaway. Toddlers not needing food or bed free. Superking bed splits into twins. French doors on to sundeck - cosy with dbl glazing, & bug screened. Rates are for 2 people. Extra children $20.00. | Getting There |
Drive to Westport, the main town in the Northern West Coast (Buller) region. Once you get to Westport follow the directions below, to find us: You will come into Westport on Palmerston Street (the main street). Continue on this until you get to Brougham St (which is also State Highway 67 to Granity, Ngakawau and Karamea.) It is a right-hand turn just past the Post Office and is reasonably well signposted. Once on this road, stay on it. You will pass through several tiny settlements – and around 15 minutes after leaving Westport as the bushclad high plateau marches towards the Tasman Sea, you will reach Granity – the village before ours. On your left as you leave Granity is the ocean – minutes later you will see a sign saying Ngakawau – Charming Creek B&B is the last property before the sports field/park – Number 24 Main Road – there’ll be a blue b and b sign and the Charming Creek B&B sign. |

Charming Creek B&B is at the base of the spectacular Charming Creek walkway which follows historic private railway tracks up the wild gorges of the Ngakawau River, from Ngakawau Village to Seddonville. The four hour easy grade walk features sulphur springs, beautiful waterfalls, tunnels, and fascinating relics tucked into the bush. Run it in an hour, or bike it in off peak tourist months. Soak in our private sea-edge Driftwood-fired hot tub, swim, fish, kayak, horse-ride or just read in the sun. Explore the high plateau mining villages of Denniston and Millerton, cave raft, marvel at underworld glowworms, jetski the Buller River or take a full day Eco-Tour of the Oparara Wetlands, Arches and Honeycomb Cave Systems. |
