| Things To Do |
- Archery - Golf Driving Range - Tennis - Canoes & Paddle Boards - Disc Golf - Movie Theatre - BBQ's - Entertainment Area - New Jumping Pillow - Volleyball - The Lake View Cafe - Kids Club - during school holidays & on long weekends - Flying Fox operates during school holidays & long weekends * The Paddle Steamer Cumberoona has been cruising the Murray River at Albury Wodonga since 1986. She is an authentic reproduction of a traditional Australian river steamer, based on the design of the original Cumberoona built in 1866 which also operated on this part of the river between Albury and Echuca. * The P.S. Cumberoona offers picturesque Murray River tours every Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday from August to May, river levels permitting, and every day during the NSW and Victorian school holidays. * The new Albury Library Museum is due to open mid 2007. The new Museum incorporates an exhibition space at least 3 times larger than the current museum, as well as a dedicated research area in the facility’s Infozone. A major permanent exhibition telling the story of Albury and region is being prepared, with the Bonegilla Story being a key focus of this exhibition. This will allow many more of the treasures of the Bonegilla collection to be displayed and an expanded exhibition that will complement the on-site Bonegilla Migrant Experience. * The Murray River is one of the world’s longest navigable rivers. It stretches 2,700 kilometres from the mountains of the Great Dividing Range in north-eastern Victoria to near Adelaide in South Australia. It varies from a mountain stream in its upper reaches to a wide meandering river lined with magnificent forests of red gum and sandy beaches in its lower reaches. The river is also home to plentiful animal and bird life and supports over 350 varieties of birds, as well as many species of mammals, reptiles, and fish. * There are many ways to experience the river. Captain your own houseboat and drift at your own pace or take a cruise through the renowned Barmah State Forest, hire a boat for a day’s fishing or paddle through wetlands and creeks in a canoe. For a faster pace, water-ski on Lake Hume, Lake Mulwala, Lake Charm or on wider sections of the Murray River. * If you prefer dry land, play a round of golf on a riverside course or visit one of the many restaurants and wineries that overlook the Murray and combine great wine and food with stunning river views. For a more informal dining experience, spread out your picnic blanket on one of the sandy beaches that line the river. |
