Waipoua Lodge State Highway 12, Rd 6, Dargaville
Waipoua Forest NORTHLAND
Map not available
Appointed to the highest Five Star standards, you will be greeted at this historic kauri lodge, to relax in the lodge lounge, bar, library and dining room. Four spacious and uniquely detailed, luxury apartments are separate to the lodge, set privately within a beautiful native landscape where broad lawns sweep down to a forest walk and birdlife fills the trees. Conversation sparks each night by the crackling fire with other guests, before a candlelit dinner from our Chef is served and complemented by a fine local wine.

The gateway to two wonders of the natural world, New Zealand’s largest Kauri Forest Sanctuary, and the crystal clear Kai Iwi Lakes. Few places in this world are so breathtaking and untouched by man, yet so accessible – less than three hours of Auckland or 1/2hr to their helipad.

Waipoua is the remote, deserted and natural New Zealand, where tranquility, relaxation, romance and breathtaking forest views prevail. Comfort-lovers surrender to massages and soak in the jacuzzi, while adventurers join the lodge guides to explore the forests and breathtaking beaches. The night skies at Waipoua are like nowhere else, as you fall to sleep in huge soft beds to the sound of the forests little native owls.

We are on the main highway on the right hand side and have sign posts 3 kms before the lodge. There is also a kauri gift shop opposite the lodge. Please note, if you get to the forest you have just driven 2kms too far - turn around.

About New Zealand Roads
New Zealand roads are not autobahns that you can travel on at great speed. Our country is diverse and our roads wind through this beautiful country, and therefore the traveling times on many of our New Zealand roads can often be slower than overseas visitors expect, when comparing similar distances to your own country.
Parking There is an onsite open car park betwen the lodge and the suites.
Things To Do The Waipoua Forest is just two kilometers to the north of the lodge with walks from 10 minutes to long tramps and holds the largest tree in NZ, Tane Mahuta 20 mins north of the lodge.

Remote, deserted beaches, shipwrecks, fossilised forests and Maunganui Bluff, that marks the end of New Zealands longest driveable beach, where you will probably be one of the only people on the beach, discover seals and birds in the sand dunes, and shells on the golden sand.

Join our Beach Tour Guide, who will help you explore the beach in the fun of his four wheel drive where you can stop and fish in the surf, pick mussels on the rocks or venture down the beach to the remains of old kauri forests and old sailing ships washed up on the beach.
