Be inspired by the natural beauty of this stunning wilderness location in eastern Taranaki. Luxurious accommodation, hiking, kayaking, New Zealand native bush, birds, farm animals , clear night skies and clean country air make for an invigorating getaway to a forgotten world.

All chalets are beautifully furnished and well equipped for self catering and suit couples and groups of friends and family, having two bedrooms. TV/DVD and selection of recent movies in your chalet. 3 burner BBQ and outdoor furniture on each chalet verandah. The use of 2 kayaks with lifejackets is also with our compliments.

Caniwi Lodge is a wilderness paradise surrounded by natural beauty and birdlife. Hiking through native bush, clay bird shooting, boat trips, kayaking, petanque and strolling throughout our manicured gardens are popular activities.

We are located 20 minutes east of Eltham and approximately one hours drive from New Plymouth or a few minutes by helicopter. Caniwi Lodge is the ideal getaway destination for those seeking an authentically New Zealand experience and a sense of serene isolation.

Stay 2 nights and we'll include a leisurely and entertaining boat trip.

Dinner is available at the Lodge on request only -otherwise self catering.

Romantic Escape

A lakeview chalet, spacious with verandah with wide opening slider doors off the lounge and the main bedroom. Quality linen(also bathrobes), equipped kitchen - gas hob, electric frypan, microwave & fridge. Tea & coffee. BBQ. Self catering. Serviced daily.
Rates are for 2 people. Extra adults $60.00. Extra children $60.00. The room caters for a maximum of 4 adults, and a maximum of 2 children but cannot exceed 4 guests in total.

Getting There	DIRECTIONS TO CANIWI LODGE by car: From Eltham - From North turn L and from South turn R into King Edward St which is off SH3 at the northern end of the township. This becomes Rawhitiroa Rd without you being aware of it. Drive approx 15 kms east on this road and you will go down big hill (Mangamingi saddle) Approx 2kms after bottom of hill turn R into Aorere Rd (NB - IF YOU MISS THIS TURNOFF YOU WILL GO OVER ONE LANE BRIDGE SO TURN BACK 50 M). Drive 5 kms to end of this gravel road and follow signs to Caniwi Lodge at end. We are approx 20 kms from Eltham. Supermarkets at Hawera in South and Stratford in North - remember to get provisions!
