Story Hotel Apartments is located at Kangaroo Point on the southern bank of Brisbane River and directly opposite the Brisbane CBD area. Major transport routes are in close proximity and the area is serviced by the City Cat commuter ferry service, Brisbane City Council buses and taxi cabs. Guests can arrange motor car rentals when making their booking with a choice of pick-up at the Brisbane airport, Brisbane city depots or at the reception desk. Airport transfers can be arranged at the time of making your booking. The City Cat ferry terminal is just a 5 minute walk, Brisbane Airport a 20 minute drive, the Gabba and Southbank is a 3 minute drive, Chinatown is a 5 minute drive and the City is just a 5 minute walk. |

Brisbane is the capital city of Queensland and renowned for its laid back lifestyle and excellent climate. Brisbane has blossomed into a cosmopolitan and modern city and at its heart is the revitalised Brisbane River, just a short stroll from the door. From your base at Story Apartments, you will find it easy to access Parliament House & Old Government House featuring Victorian sandstone, the Victorian elegance of The Mansions in William Street, Customs House with its corinthian columns and copper dome, the "Heritage Trail" taking in St. John's Cathedral, still unfinished since 1901, St. Stephen's Church, the city's oldest with the adjoining and more recent cathedral, the Old Windmill (Observatory) constructed during the original convict settlement, the Old Commissariat Store of the same era and the famous Gabba sports facility, home of cricket and AFL. The Queensland Cultural Centre combines a world class museum, art gallery and performing arts complex. The adjoining Southbank Parklands offers riverside walks, bike trails, entertainment and eateries. Try your luck at the Treasury casino on the CBD bank of the river. A visit to Mt. Cootha is a must to appreciate the night time views across the city sprawled below. Mt. Cootha is home to a planetarium and 57 hectares of wonderful botanic gardens and reserve containing Australian flora in a setting of lakes, ponds and streams. Trips to Mt Cootha feature on the itineraries of most day trip operators. The beautifully preserved Newstead House is an historic homestead set beside the Brisbane river and reflects the lifestyle of an affluent Brisbane family in the mid 1800's. The house is open for inspection to the public. See the city by hot air balloon or for the more adventurous, try abseiling the rock faces along the river. A recent Brisbane attraction is the Story Bridge Adventure Climb which is located just minutes from Story Apartments. Weekend markets selling everything from produce to bric-a-brac are held at Riverside just across the river from the Kangaroo Point ferry terminal. If wildlife is on your agenda, then Alma Park and the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary are within easy reach of the city. Explore the river on the commuter Ferry Cats or on the paddlewheel Kookaburra Queen. Take a ferry ride to Moreton Island and feed wild dolphins at Tangalooma Island. Take the ferry ride to North Stradbroke Island for day trips and bush-walking. |
