Things To Do The Hundred House Hotel, one of the finest hotels in Shropshire, is situated in rolling countryside close to the Severn Valley and offers many varied attractions for the visitor:

The Ironbridge Gorge: Ironbridge, south of Telford, was the Silicon Valley of the Industrial Revolution. In company with the Grand Canyon and the Taj Mahal, the Ironbridge Gorge is a World Heritage Site. Here seven distinctly different museums show how this area lit the fuse to the Industrial Revolution. The iron bridge was built by Abraham Darby in 1779.

Bridgnorth: The old town lies perched on a hill-top above the River Severn and has superb views of the river valley. Twisting medieval streets lead down to the river or take the country's oldest and steepest inland cliff railway, an 111 foot climb at a gradient of 1 : 1.8.

Severn Valley Railway: One of the country's most attractive steam journeys travelling through 16 miles of glorious countryside with superb views of the river en-route.

Stokesay Castle: The country's most perfectly preserved 13th century fortified manor house. A picturesque group with its Jacobean gatehouse and nearly parish church, all nestling in peaceful countryside near the Welsh Border.

Much Wenlock: A sleepy old market town with great charm. Much Wenlock was granted its first charter in 1468. The half-timbered Guildhall and the Priory Ruins are well worth a visit.

Wenlock Edge: The fossil beds of Wenlock Edge were formed as coral reefs somewhere south of the Equator. The Edge offers dramatic views over the rich agricultural land of south-east Shropshire. There are paths and ways for walkers, cyclists and riders

Old Colehurst Manor: Elizabethan Manor House - 1580. A unique collection of exotic plants, old English roses, clematis, herbs and knot garden. Restored moat, formal and wildlife ponds.

Weston Park: One of the great historic homes of England. A 17th Century House set in 1,000 acre Parkland. Weston is the ancestral home of the Earls of Bradford.

Wroxeter: A town close to Shrewsbury boasts the ruins of Viroconium, the fourth-largest city in Roman Britain.

Acton Scott Historic Working Farm: Living History - a waggoner with heavy horses works the land of this 19th Century farm.

Ludlow Castle: Roger Montgomery, Earl of Shrewsbury, built the massive sandstone keep and castle in 1085. Over the years it was developed, destroyed and rebuilt. Here the two sons of Edward IV were kept safe before they were taken to their deaths in the Tower of London.

Telford: There are now over 3000 companies in Telford, including over 130 overseas firms that continue to thrive and grow with the town. The town boasts one of the UK's highest concentrations of Japanese manufacturing companies in one town. The Telford International Centre hosts a wide variety of exhibitions, large conferences and major product launches.
