| Getting There |
To arrive on Macleay Island you need to use a water taxi, vechicle barge or private boat. Redland Bay is the access point to Macleay Island. It is a small coastal town situated between Brisbane and the Gold Coast, and can be reached by bus from Brisbane City. Airport transfers from Coolangatta or Brisbane can be arranged, these are normally by limousine so you start your getaway in style. At Redland Bay, the water taxi terminal is located at the southern end of Banana St. There is a free public car park available at the terminal and the water taxi trip takes 15 minutes. Once on Macleay Island we have a complimentary pick up service. If you wish to bring your car on the vechicle barge, it is located in Weinham St, Redland Bay and bookings are essential. This relaxing trip takes 40 minutes to transport you to Macleay Island. |
| Parking |
Each guest suite has off street car parking, free of charge. There is also boat & trailer parking, free of charge. If you wish to arrive in your own boat, a deep water mooring can be organised, (fee applies). |
| Things To Do |
Macleay Island is sheltered in the vast marine park of Moreton Bay. It is rich in native flora and fauna, edged with mangrove foreshores and sandy beaches, providing respite from the pressures of the outside world. An eco-tourism dream and bird watchers nirvana, the island has a variety of experiences. The calm waters are great for swimming, fishing, sea kayaking and snorkelling. Visitors can enjoy gourmet breakfasts, champagne sunsets, al fresco dining, arts and crafts or curl up with a good book and just relax. Mingle with the locals by playing golf, tennis or lawn bowls, explore the bicycle and heritage trail. Watch the dolphins, turtles, dugongs and go for beach walks. Stay a few days and get the full island experience by slipping into "island time". |
