Quickenberry is a small lodge situated in a unique and stunning location in the high country of Canterbury on Terrace Downs Golf Course offering a range of experiences and adventures in the nearby Lake Coleridge Basin and in and around the Rakaia Gorge. The owners, Christine and Robert, are experienced restaurateurs and have received many awards for their service and food. Many would consider the four course meals included in the packages worthy of a visit in themselves but the surrounding countryside is not to be missed either. There are glorious views of the Rakaia river and the Southern Alps to be had all the way up to Lake Coleridge and many walking tracks beckon to be discovered in a largely unspoilt and uncrowded environment. The lodge itself consists of four bedrooms with superking beds and all with ensuites and access to the lawns and views over rolling farmland. There is a large lounge with an open fireplace, a cosy library and an intimate dining room. Quickenberry is only one hour from Christchurch Airport making it an ideal first stopover for a tour of the South Island or one last night and morning in a truly magnificent spot at the foot of the Southern Alps. |

| Getting There |
From Christchurch take highway 73 towards Arthur's Pass. Turn left at Darfield on to highway 77 and at Windwhistle turn right towards Lake Coleridge. Terrace Downs entrance is 7 kilometres from turnoff. Drive into the resort and take the first lane on right. Quickenberry is the second house on the right. From South travel on highway 72 towards Rakaia Gorge. Just after the bridges either go ahead up Zig Zag road which is not tarsealed or continue on main highway until Whindwhistle and turn left. Continue as above. |
