Muritai Manor has warmth & charm & offers generous hospitality. The property has a Qualmark 4 star plus rating and is located five minutes drive north of Nelson City. Member of Heritage and Character Inns of New Zealand and Boutique Lodgings of New Zealand. Muritai Manor is a charming Edwardian villa, built in 1903, with expansive sea and mountain views. This one-time family home has spacious rooms, high ceilings, gleaming native timber floors and fine kauri fireplaces. Renovated in 1997, the four in-house guest bedrooms retain the ambience of yesterday while having modern facilities including en suite bathrooms. The Garden Room (with en suite) is nestled among shrubs and trees. You will wake to the smell of coffee and a delicious breakfast which may include fresh eggs from our own free range hens, bacon, local bratwurst sausages, blueberry pancakes, homemade bread, and in summer: luscious Nelson berry-fruits. In the heat of the summer, tangy sea breezes cool the house; on cold winter evenings, guests can enjoy a convivial glass of wine by a roaring fire. Set in a semi-rural location, Muritai Manor is only a few minutes drive from the city centre, renowned for its eclectic Saturday Market, buzzing café bars, restaurants and funky art galleries. Guests enjoy memorable views across the sparkling waters of Nelson Haven, to the Boulder Bank and beyond to Tasman Bay with its backdrop of mountains. Muritai Manor Bed & Breakfast is conveniently located within reach of three National Parks and there are many things to do in this spectacular location: hiking, horse riding, sea kayaking, fishing and sailing and discovering art galleries and local wineries. At Muritai Manor, you will return to a simpler era of splendid solid homes built from native timbers and surrounded with sprawling gardens full of oak trees, roses and camellias; as well as native trees such as the raffish New Zealand cabbage tree. At the end of your busy day, you can relax in the spa pool or cool off in the solar-heated swimming pool. You will receive a very warm welcome to this Nelson B&B from your hosts Alex and Julia Hunter, who are happy to help you plan and arrange activities in and around Nelson. We have five guest bedrooms, each with en-suite bathroom facilities, a guest dining room, guest lounge, off-street parking, extensive gardens, solar heated outdoor swimming pool and outdoor heated spa (hot-tub). Each bedroom offers: · Quality linen & toiletries · Tea & coffee making facilities · Iron & ironing board · Electric blankets · Fridge · Television · DVD Player · Wireless internet access · Bathrobes · Beach towels · Fresh flowers · Handmade chocolates Breakfast is served in the Guest Dining Room and we use local produce where possible. Nelson’s markets are an excellent source of locally grown fruit and vegetables. As well as fruit juices, cereals, muesli, yoghurts, fresh and poached fruits, preserves, homemade bread, a selection of teas and speciality coffee, we also offer a cooked breakfast. The choice varies from day-to-day and includes traditional bacon, egg and tomatoes, bratwurst sausage, blueberry pancakes and orange French toast. If you have any special requests or dietary needs, please let us know and we shall do our best to accommodate these. After breakfast you’ll probably want to explore the many attractions that Nelson has to offer. On your return, take a refreshing dip in our solar-heated outdoor swimming pool, wind down in the spa or simply relax on the sun deck, balcony or in the Guest Lounge (and enjoy a complimentary glass of sherry or port). A telephone is available in the lounge for guest use – local calls are free but toll calls are chargeable. For the comfort of our guests our home is non-smoking in all rooms |
