'Our Pick' - Lonely Planet Authors 2008. Abbotsford Heritage B&B is a traditional, hosted Bed and Breakfast and offers an opportunity to experience a charming, private and ideal base from which to explore Tasmania's spectacular East Coast when you stay with us in our random bluestone heritage listed 1880s cottage set on 9 acres in the historic township of Swansea. Please note when making a booking that the suite is booked as a one unit/room and has two bedrooms suitable for up to maximum four adults travelling together as couples or singles with one king size bedroom and one double/twin share bedroom. Abbotsford is less than a five min. drive from the township post office and less than a five min. walk to secluded beaches and spectacular coastal walks. We offer B&B in Wattie’s spacious suite (named after that famous bard, Sir Walter Scott) where a kingsize bedroom awaits upstairs with panoramic water and mountain views together with impressive sunrises. The double/twin share bedroom downstairs overlooks the garden also with bay and Hazard mountain views. We hope you will enjoy this welcoming setting, with your own private/keyed entry, private sitting room (downstairs), spacious bathroom - sob - (upstairs) and tea/coffee making facilities. A private, sheltered guest courtyard is also available. The cottage has been completely restored to hopefully retain something of the integrity and ambience of the cosy farm cottage of yesteryear and is comfortably furnished throughout with antiques. Some of the original homestead outbuildings remain and are in constant use, including the historic barn barn and bakehouse. We serve a hearty breakfast with home baking in our cosy howff as you plan your daily activities exploring this special part of the coast and beyond. First class restaurants, coffee and craft shops are close-by in Swansea, together with other amenities including health centre, pharmacy, post office, hairdresser, tavern, gift shops, newsagency/bakery, supermarket, deli and bottle-shops. All rooms in our heritage cottage have expansive bay and mountain views over extensive, and constantly developing gardens, surrounded by dry stone walls and featuring a Celtic rose bed, to Great Oyster Bay and the dramatic Hazards at Freycinet with Wineglass Bay just beyond. We are delighted that the authors of the 2008 Lonely Planet guide to Tasmania chose to highlight our property as 'our pick' and '... one of the nicest places to stay in Swansea' where '... the breakfasts are divine'. So, come and step back in time at Abbotsford and enjoy some old fashioned hospitality - with a touch of Celtic spirit ! Genuine Guest Comments: '... a wonderful stay here at Abbotsford and the wee bit extra that may us feel so genuinely welcome' 'We were lucky to find Abbotsford in this beautiful area .. hospitality ten out of ten .. great breakfast in a wonderful home' 'So cosy and exactly what we were looking for .. magic atmosphere .. this has inspired us to live a little more like this, appreciate the simple, yet good, things in life - together' 'A delightful stay, charming hosts and in a thoughtfully restored Celtic castle near the sea ' ! ‘Even though we arrived before our ETA we were greeted with a smile and a "… you should never just drive past …" from our hostess. True Scottish hospitality transplanted into the beautiful surrounds of Swansea. 'Abbotsford B&B' was a lovely place to stay. Having the whole cottage to ourselves was great, it meant that we could just relax and come and go as we wished. The breakfast was HUGE, it definitely set us up for the day. The bed was the biggest I have ever slept in!" Janine, WA. 'What can we say ... your hospitality, your kindness and unbelievable brekkies made our weekend one that we will never forget in such a beautiful cottage and surrounds. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to share your tranquility and because we missed the sunrise we will be back again soon'. 'Such a lovely place to stay by the seaside! There was so much attention to detail and the overall feel of the cottage was most welcome. And the breakfast! Mmm mm mmm! We will definitely be visiting again and recommend to anybody who is looking for accommodation in the area' Sean. |
