Waihi Beach Lodge is a Qualmark 4 star guest & hosted property at Waihi Beach - the gateway to both the Coromandel & The Bay of Plenty. Waihi Beach is 2 hours approx from Auckland and 1 ½ hours from Auckland International airport on the East Coast. Waihi Beach is the first surf beach you come to on the East Coast and is 9kms of white sand. The beach is a safe swimming beach and is a great place to unwind after a long flight, the perfect place to be based or to start your trip or to rest up before heading home at the end of a holiday . Close by we have a wonderful 35 minute walk across to Orakawa Bay, a pristine horseshoe bay only accessible by foot. Within 30 minutes drive there is the famous Karangahake Gorge to explore. The gorge has many walks which vary in length from 35 minutes up to 4 hours whilst taking in the history of the former gold mining rush which took place last century. Also still within 30 minutes are three wineries where you can sample the various locally produced vintages. If golf is your thing then there are 3 courses within easy driving distance. For those keen on fishing, we have fly fishing for trout available in the Karangahake Gorge or salt water fishing either in the harbour or the open sea. Charter boats are available from Waihi Beach or Tauranga -45 minutes away. Whilst in Tauranga you could also swim with the dolphins, take a tandem jump from an aeroplane, partake in shopping or stroll around the base of Mt Maunganui. The tourist hub of Rotorua is only 1 ½ hours from Waihi Beach, suitable for a day trip. Day trips up The Coromandel to the stunning Cathedral Cove and highly acclaimed Hot Water Beach are easily done as they are within a 2 hour drive. Waihi Beach Lodge has 3 studio rooms with king size beds, fridge, tea & coffee making facilities, cotton linen, hair dryers, lounge chairs and coffee table, bathrobes, TV & DVD plus guests receive fresh fruit and chocolates on arrival. We also have a studio apartment which has a queen size bed, kitchen, laundry, as well as cotton sheets, bathrobes, TV & DVD, so guests can choose to be part of our B & B or choose to self cater. The apartment has its own two entrances and outdoor tables and chairs plus a sea view from its deck. Included in our tariff is gourmet breakfast for two. There are 5 cafes plus a Boating Club and RSA to cater for evening meal requirements. The lodge itself is 150 metres from the beach and all rooms have sea views For guest use there are kayaks, boogie boards, fishing rods and bikes should you feel so inclined. Wireless Internet access is available in all rooms. Pre-dinner drinks are offered each evening. Waihi Beach has great cafes for dining or we would be happy to provide a 3 course meal by prior arrangement. Scrumptious full breakfasts are served in the dining room or alfresco on one of the many decks. |
