You’ll enjoy one of England’s best views across 30 miles of The Severn Valley, at this second generation family owned and run country house hotel. Set in 7 acres of wooded slopes giving direct access to the 9 mile range of the Malvern Hills. The Daily Mail described it as “The best view in England”. But that’s not all you will discover, the bedrooms are charming and distinctively different, the largest being in ‘The Pinnacles’. There’s also a well known and highly regarded restaurant, ‘Outlook’ with 2 AA Rosettes, a well stocked bar and an award winning wine list with 600 or so wines to tempt you. This uniquely situated hotel has been owned and run by the Pattin family for eighteen years, aided by their "extended" family, a team of enthusiastic people who enjoy what they do - looking after their guests. The Main House (or Dower House) is the heart of the operation. Consisting of the restaurant, eight bedrooms and conference facilities. The restaurant, an elegant room adorned with striking 100 year old Indian and Moghul prints, and below the panorama stretching to the horizon some 30 miles or so, from tall Georgian windows. Dominic Pattin is in command of the kitchen and specialises in modern English cuisine with ingredients from local producers wherever possible. A cosy bar/lounge with its focal point being a roaring log fire in winter, offers a good selection of malts and a large gin collection. The choice is sure to set you up for your meal. And, afterwards, what about a Cognac, Armagnac or single malt as a nightcap? Upstairs there are eight bedrooms, which, whilst not large, are individually designed and stocked to ensure your comfort. Some are front-facing and two boast four-poster beds. Seventy leisurely paces brings you to the oldest building, Beech Cottage. This old cottage is marked on all the old maps of the area and pre-dates the Main House by 100 to 150 years - in its time it has been a woodman's cottage and Cider Scrumpy house. It now has four peaceful cottagey bedrooms, one of which is a four-poster. Beyond lies "The Pinnacles". Built in 2003 on the original site of the Coach House, which was originally the home for the carriages of the main house. The Pinnacles has nineteen bedrooms, almost all of which have front-facing views. Some rooms are suites, some have sun-trap balconies, and as if to make up for the longer stroll from the main building, with quite the most magnificent views of all! The first and second floor of The Pinnacles are non-smoking bedrooms. All bedrooms are en-suite with bath or bath with shower over, remote control colour tele/videos, free video library, direct-dial telephone and alarm, central heating and an additional fan heater for those "in between" days, kettle with choice of teas, coffee, hot chocolate and home-made biscuits, hair dryer, radio, shampoo and bubble bath. All rooms "with a view" have binoculars. |
