This well-loved and historic landmark, formerly known as the MLC Building, has been completely refurbished and transformed into the stylish 3-star plus Scenic Hotel Auckland. Constructed in 1954, it was Auckland’s first high-rise office building. The building is now protected by the Historic Places Trust, and as such, every attention was given to the lavish restoration of this unique landmark. The art deco charm of the 1950’s is reflected throughout the hotel’s architecture with beautifully presented areas such as the entrance foyer. | Getting There |
BY CAR: When travelling by car take the Southern Motorway, follow the Wellesley Street off ramp option as you approach Auckland City. Once on Wellesley St, take the first available left on to Mayrol Drive. Turn right at first set of lights onto Wakefield Street and then left on to Queen Street. Travel approximately 250 metres up Queen Street and Scenic Hotel will appear on your left. Simply park car at hotel entrance and a Valet parking service will be extended. TAXIS: located at any airport you will find a vast number of taxis or shuttles. A taxi from Auckland Domestic or International Airport should cost between NZ$50.00 - NZ$60.00 (no tip required) while a shuttle will cost you approx NZ$40.00, however the shuttle will be a longer trip as they will drop off other customers at different hotels throughout the trip. The airport bus service leaves Auckland airport every 20 minutes and costs NZ$18.00 one way. The bus has a stop at the Auckland Town Hall which is opposite the Scenic Hotel Auckland. |
