Falls Forest Retreat is nestled in a remnant Gondwanan rainforest, in a hidden valley 3½ hours north of Sydney, just 4kms off the Pacific Highway between Taree and Port Macquarie on the Mid-North Coast of NSW. Featuring the 40m Yoorigan Falls and pristine coastal rainforest, Falls Forest Retreat features a conference centre and clubhouse, and large fully serviced townhouses with stunning views, all linked by covered walkways through our manicured lawns and rainforest ferns, figs and orchids. The Falls Forest Retreat has been popular with locals and visitors for nearly a century, welcoming the first guests in 1911. The first lodge was a haven for people getting away from Sydney. Rebuilt several times since, the current sizable townhouse suites were finished in the early 1980s. The Retreat is under new management and is now the home and business of one of Australia's leading environmental writers - Mary E. White - author of seven major books on the history and development of the Australian continent, the origin of its vegetation and the problems of unsustainable land and water use. She has recently covenanted the native forests on the property to protect their biodiversity for all eternity. |
