The Albany Hotel is a fabulous little gem tucked away in one of South Yarra’s prettiest streets. Once a hangout for musicians in the 60’s and 70’s, it is somewhat of an ‘institution’ in the area with a 40 year history. It was originally a 1960’s motel attached to a wonderful Victorian Mansion and has since been split into the Albany Original and the newly formed Bloomfield Hotel. Having recently undergone a remarkable transformation, the Hotel has emerged with a Fashion meets Music theme which can be seen throughout the property. From the black and white striped walls in the new bar, to the floor to ceiling photographs, murals and artwork, funky bed-heads and red hallways, it’s become an interesting and chilled place to stay. There are many different room types which are designed to cater to the needs and budgets of all our guests. The ‘hotel’ section of the Albany houses our newly renovated Deluxe rooms and the rear ‘motel’ section our original standard rooms and our refurbished Superior rooms with original bathrooms. We also offer 2 spa suites and the Millswyn Suite which is a fully equipped one bedroom apartment with a sneaky interconnecting door for families. The hotel prides itself on its individuality and cheeky style which is designed to both welcome and entertain you in the most comfortable of ways. More importantly our front office team are warm and welcoming and are there to attend to even your smallest needs. We even offer a Rolls Royce chauffeur service (limited availability) on Friday and Saturday nights within the CBD. Breakfast is served 7 days a week in our sun filled restaurant. We are very excited to now be offering bar food 7 days and dinner Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, all prepared by our new resident chef – Anthony Siketa. Anthony is formerly from award winning restaurant Sel de la Terre in Toorak Road and Chateau Yering. We have also recently introduced a variety of dine-in, home cooked meals for Sunday to Wednesday nights and will soon be offering a Room Service menu. Our chic location is what makes this hotel even more unique. Nestled in South Yarra, one of Melbourne’s most exclusive areas, the hotel is within walking distance of some of Melbourne’s top restaurants. We are a couple of blocks from famous Chapel Street, which is one of Melbourne’s prime shopping areas, we are also only 2 km’s away from the city itself. Connected by trams in both directions and located on the corner of Toorak Road, Millswyn Street runs between gorgeous Fawkner Park and the Royal Botanic Gardens. We are a hop, skip and a jump from the Melbourne Cricket Ground – ok well a 20 minute walk or 10 minute cab ride, close to the Grand Prix circuit (easily audible in Feb), a short tram ride to the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV), the Victoria and Prahran Markets, the Rod Laver Tennis Centre and many of the Overseas consulates. We offer limited on-site parking. All our rooms are non smoking but feel free to smoke your heart out in the areas provided!! |

Close to all forms of public transport, the Albany is on the corner of Toorak Road and Millswyn Street, 2km from the CBD. Melways Map 58. The number 8 tram from the CBD is the closest to the hotel however you will need to get off at the corner of Toorak Rd and Park St. Then walk 1 block back towards the city along Toorak RD A taxi ride from the airport is approximately $55.00, alternatively you can take the shuttle bus to Southern Cross Station and then catch a tram along Bourke st to Swanson St, and then the number 8 tram to the hotel.
